The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 694,3 thousand people, including 403 thousand people (58%) - urban, 291,2 thousand people (42%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 2207 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 3029 people).
For January-August 2026 the number of births was 5880 people (10,6% less than in January-August 2025), the number of deaths was 3673 people (3,5% more than in January-August 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – -3594 people (in January-August 2025 – -3243 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of –2 people (-35), in internal -negative –- 3596 people and (-3208 people).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 16502 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 18378 people, or 5,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 402028 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,1%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 96,2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 2684975,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 13,1% less than in January- September 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 15,1%. In the manufacturing increased by 0,4%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air by 1,4%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 5,6%.
The volume of gross output (services) of agricultural, forestry and fisheries in January-September 2026 amounted to 281735 million tenge, or 105,4% by January-September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 8354 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100.3% compared to January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic in January-September 2026 amounted to 3368.1 million pkm, or 110.9% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 264684,7 million tenge, or 107% compared to January- September 2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation ascreased by 3,5% and amounted to 442,9 thousand square meters, of which in individual residential buildings ascreased by 3,8% (198,2 thousand square meters), multi-apartment buildings ascreased by 3,9% (244,8 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 539511 million tenge, or 103,2% by January- September 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 12703 units and increased by 1,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 12357 units with fewer than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10315 units, including 9969 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 10131 units and increased by 0,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 year amounted to 2502004,9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-June 2025 year, real GRP decreased by 3,3%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 60,1%, services -37,3%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 107,6%.
Prices for food products increased by 6,4%, non-food products - by 9,5%, paid services for the population - by 7,4%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,8%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 491983.2 million tenge, or 1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 499194,5 million tenge, or 100% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 395,7 million US dollars and decreased by 30,9% January-August 2025, including exports – 80,9 million US dollars (by 20,9% less), imports – 314,8 million US dollars (33% less).
