The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 694,6 thousand people, including 402,8 thousand people (58%) -urban, 291,8 thousand people (42%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 1897 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 2559 people).
For January-July 2026 the number of births was 5141 people (9,7% less than in January- July 2025), the number of deaths was 3244 people (3,5% more than in January- July 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – -2956 people (in January- July 2025 – -2647 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 2 people (-30), in internal -negative –- 2958 people and (-2617 people).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 16502 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 18561 people, or 5,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 402028 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,1%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 96,2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 2581419,8 million tenge in current prices, which is 9,3% less than in January- August 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 10,7%, in the manufacturing industry - by 0,5%. In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air increased by 2,4%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 5,8%.
The volume of gross output (services) of agricultural, forestry and fisheries in January-August 2026 amounted to 214471,8 million tenge, or 105% by January-August 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 7483,1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,4% compared to January-August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic in January-August 2026 amounted to 3029,6 million pkm, or 111,9% by January-August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 218348,2 million tenge, or 113,4% compared to January-Avgust 2025.
In January-Avgust 2026, the total area of housing put into operation ascreased by 1% and amounted
to 332,9 thousand square meters, of which in individual residential buildings ascreased by 4,5% (161,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 446340,3 million tenge, or 105,3% by January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 12657 units and increased by 0,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 12303 units with fewer than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10247 units, including 9893 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 10091 units and increased by 0,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for 2025 year amounted to 4984664 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of 2024 year, real GRP increased by 2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56,8%, services - 41,2%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106,5%.
Prices for food products increased by 6,1%, non-food products - by 6,9%, paid services for the population - by 6,7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 430596,7 million tenge, or 1,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 415531,6 million tenge, or 100% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 333,7 million US dollars and decreased by 31,3% January-July 2025, including exports – 71,1 million US dollars (by 16,8% less), imports – 262,7 million US dollars (34,4% less).
