The population of the region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 695,5 thousand people, including 401,9 thousand people (57,8%) - urban, 293,6 thousand people (42,2%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 631 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 676 people).
For January-February 2026 the number of births was 1482 people (3,9% less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths was 851 people (1,8% less than in January-February 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – -795 people (in January-February 2025 – -655 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 4 people (-8), in internal -negative – - 799 people and (-647).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 16347 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 16608 people, or 4,7% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 380424 tenge, an increase compared to the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 5,3%. The real wage index in IV quarter 2025 was 93,9%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 225001 tenge, which is 8.9% higher than in IV quarter 2024, decrease in real cash income for the specified period is 2.9%.
The volume of industrial production in January-March 2026 amounted to 889179,2 million tenge in current prices, which is 15,3% less than in January-March 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 17,2%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air, the decrease in production was 8,3%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 1,3%. In the manufacturing industry increased by 0,3%.
The volume of gross output (services) of agricultural, forestry and fisheries in January-March 2026 amounted to 36422 million tenge, or 104,6% by January-March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 2972,7 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,7% compared to January-March 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic - 1105,2 million pkm, or 108,7 % by January-March 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 49718,2 million tenge, or 117,4% compared to January-March 2025.
In January-March 2026, the total area of housing put into operation ascreased by 5,1% and amounted to 92,5 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings by 4,1% (48,4 thousand square meters), individual residential buildings increased by 6,2% (44,1 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 135396,7 million tenge, or 122,3% by January-March 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 12529 units and increased by 1,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 12174 units with fewer than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10623 units, including 10268 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9990 units and increased by 1,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 year amounted to 3505277,1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-September 2024 year, real GRP increased by 3,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 58,9%, services - 38,6%.
The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103%.
Prices for food products increased by 2,6%, non-food products - by 2,8%, paid services for the population - by 4,1%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 decreased by 1,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 146975,1 million tenge, or 0,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 134622 million tenge, or 100,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2025 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 81,9 million US dollars and increased by 30% to January-February 2025, including exports - 15,3 million US dollars (by 17% less), imports - 66,6 million US dollars (32,4% less).
