The population of the region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 694,6 thousand people, including 402,4 thousand people
(57,9%) -urban, 292,2 thousand people (42,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 1590 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 2163 people).
For January-June 2026 the number of births was 4353 people (9,3% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths was 2763 people (4,8% more than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – -2595 people (in January-June 2025 – -1891 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 6 people (-26), in internal -negative –- 2601 people and (-1865 people).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 15956 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted
to 18107 people, or 5,1% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 387694 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 7,1%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 96,4%.
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 2278822,8 million tenge in current prices, which is 9,8% less than in January-July 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 11,2%, in the manufacturing industry - by 1,1%. In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air increased by 2,2%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 4,7%.
The volume of gross output (services) of agricultural, forestry and fisheries in January-July 2026 amounted
to 167056,8 million tenge, or 104,9% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 6604,8 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,9% compared to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic in January-July 2026 amounted to 2627,9 million pkm, or 111,5% by January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 178767,3 million tenge, or 117,3% compared to
January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation ascreased by 2,5% and amounted
to 265,8 thousand square meters, of which in individual residential buildings ascreased by 2,3% (128,2 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 388095,2 million tenge, or 113,3%
by January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 12622 units and increased by 0,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 12270 units with fewer than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10168 units, including 9816 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 10061 units and increased by 0,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 year amounted to 1188658,2 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025 year, real GRP decreased by 8,1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 60,4%, services - 36,6%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106,2%.
Prices for food products increased by 6,1%, non-food products - by 5,5%, paid services for the population - by 7,2%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased
by 4,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 368881,8 million tenge, or 1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 345693,8 million tenge, or 100% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to
276,9 million US dollars and decreased by 33,7% January-June 2025, including exports - 54 million US dollars
(by 24% less), imports - 222,9 million US dollars (35,7% less).
