The population of the Kostanay region as of August 1, 2024 amounted to 827.5 thousand people, including 519.1 thousand people (62.7%) – urban, 308.4 thousand people (37.3%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2024 amounted to 559 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 820 people).
The number of births as January-July 2024 amounted to 5455 people (3.5% less than in January-July 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 4896 people (1.3% more than in January-July 2023).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to 3051 people (in January-July 2023 – -1952 people), including in external migration – 87 people (-235 people), in internal migration – -3138 people (-1717 people).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 21469 people.
The unemployment rate was 4.6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 9262 people or 2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 337636 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2023 amounted to 12,5%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2024 was 103.9%.
In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 184505 tenge, which is 16.3% higher than in I quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 107.2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2024 amounted to 1758150.1 million tenge in current prices, which is 4% less than in January-August 2023.
In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 8.8%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 18.9%. In the manufacturing industry the decrease in production amounted to 8.9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioned – by 0.2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-August 2024 amounted to 221015.4 million tenge or 106.5% by January-August 2023.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2024 amounted to 17612.7 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 97.6% compared to January-August 2023.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1277.6 million p-km, or 124.7% by January-August 2023.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 126324 million tenge or 103.6% compared to January-August 2023.
In January-August 2024, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2.4% and amounted to 319.8 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 5.5% (215.1 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 7.7% (99.3 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2024 amounted to 322802 million tenge or 107% by January-August 2023.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 14894 units and decreased by 1.6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14498 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12813 units, including 12419 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11563 units and decreased by 2.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2024 amounted to 974585,8 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2023, real GRP increased by 105.1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 47.6%, services – 45.8%.
The consumer price index in August 2024 compared to December 2023 was 104,7%.
Prices for food products increased by 2,8%, non-food products – by 4,5%, paid services for the population – by 7,4%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 3,6%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 413332.1 million tenge, or 9.7% more than the corresponding period in 2023.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 654012.1 million tenge, or 106.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 905.4 million US dollars and decreased by 17% compared to January-July 2023, including exports – 325.5 million US dollars (by 27.2% less), imports – 579.9 million US dollars (9.9% less).
