The population of the region as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 789.9 thousand people, including 457.2 thousand people (57.9%) - urban, 332.7 thousand people (42.1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January 2026 amounted to 156 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 62 people).
The number of births as January 2026 amounted to 720 people (13.2% more than in January 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 564 people (1.7% less than in January 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 189 people (in January 2025 –-190 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 38 people (-2 people), in internal - positive - 151 people (-188 people).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 18.9 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.5% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of March1, 2026 amounted to 7353 people, or 1.8% of the labor force.
The volume of industrial production in January-February 2026 amounted to 369547.7 million tenge in current prices, which is 16.6% less than in January-February 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 7.5%, in the manufacturing industry decreased by 9.8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an decreased by 5.5%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 4.5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January- February 2026 amounted to 59672.4 million tenge, or 105.8% by January- February.2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-February 2026 amounted to 4041.9 million tkm (accounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 97.4% compared to January-February 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –136.3 million pkm, or 121.7% by January-February 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 14458.1 million tenge, or 90.8% by January-February 2025.
In January-February 2026 the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 13.6% and amounted to 41.3 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings increasedby 4.1%, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 16.1%.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-February 2026 amounted to 40431.7 million tenge, or 76.5% by January-February 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 14925 units and increased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14563 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12992 units, including 12633 units –small businesses.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11684 units and increased by 1.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product according to preliminary data for January-September 2025 amounted to 2 979 672.0 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-September 2024, real GRP increased by 106.2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 49.7%, services – 46.5%.
Consumer price index February 2026 by December 2025 amounted to 102.3%, including for food products –102.7%, non-food – 102.6%, paid services to the population – 101.4%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in February 2026 compared to December 2025 incresed by 11.5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 70069.1 million tenge, or 1.2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 141868.6 million tenge, or 124.2% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 26.5 million US dollars, including exports – 5.7 million dollars, imports – 20.8 million US dollars.
