The population of the region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 790,7 thousand people, including 457,8 thousand people (57,9%) - urban, 332,9 thousand people (42,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January - February 2026 amounted to 293 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 238 people).
The number of births as January - February 2026 amounted to 1370 people (4,7% more than in January - February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1077 people (0,6% less than in January - February 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 798 people (in January - February 2025 –-94 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 50 people (45 people), in internal - positive - 748 people (-139 people).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 18.9 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.5% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April1, 2026 amounted to 7904 people, or 1.9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 408595 tenge, an increase compared to the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 17.4%.
The real wage index in IV quarter 2025 was 103.3%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capital nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 237792 tenge, which is 17,3% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the monetary incomes of the population in real terms increased by the specified period is 3,3%.
The volume of industrial production in January - March 2026 amounted to 577601.4 million tenge in current prices, which is 13.8% less than in January - March 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 1.3%, in the manufacturing industry decreased by 18%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an decreased by 0.3%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 7.1%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January - March 2026 amounted to 96923,8 million tenge, or 102,7% by January - March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January - March 2026 amounted to 5963.8 million tkm (accounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 95.2% compared to January - March 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 204.6 million pkm, or 123.9% by January - March 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 28807.1 million tenge, or 76.6% by January - Marsh 2025.
In January - Marsh 2026 the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 12.6% and amounted to 98.5 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings -by 14.8% (36,8 thousand square meters),the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 11.1%(61,7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January - Marsh 2026 amounted to 106096 million tenge, or 114.8% by January - Marsh 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 14965 units and decreased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14603 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 13016 units, including 12656 units –small businesses.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11721 units and decreased by 1,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product according to preliminary data for January – September 2025 amounted to 2 979 672,0 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January – September 2024, real GRP increased by 106,2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 49.7%, services – 46.5%.
Consumer price index March 2026 by December 2025 amounted to 103,1%, including for food products –104%, non-food – 103,2%, paid services to the population – 101,7%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 incresed by 19.5%.
The volume of retail trade in January - March 2026 amounted to 119910.7 million tenge, or 0.2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January - March 2026 amounted to 222307.2 million tenge, or 113.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January - February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 64.4 million US dollars, including exports – 14.2 million dollars, imports – 50.2 million US dollars.
