The population of the region as of of August 1, 2026 amounted to 793.9 thousand people, including 460.6 thousand people (58%) - urban, 333.3 thousand people (42%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January - Jule 2026 amounted to 976 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1159 people).
The number of births as January-Jule 2026 amounted to 4933 people (3.3% less than in January-Jule 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3957 people (0.3% more than in January-Jule 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 3345 people (in January-Jule 2025 –-507 people), including in external migration negative balance of 20 people (45 people), in internal - positive - 3365 people (-552 people).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 18.6 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September1, 2026 amounted to 7415 people, or 1.8% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 406085 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 10.7%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 98.4%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 1695399.7 million tenge in current prices, which is 5% less than in January- August 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 3.5%, in the manufacturing industry decreased by 10.6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increased by 33%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 6.4%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-Аuqust 2026 amounted to 422 307.9 million tenge, or 106.3% by January- Auqust 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 14438.3 million tkm (accounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 102.7% compared to January-August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –547.4 million pkm, or 116.2% by January-August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 208062.5 million tenge, or 111.9% by January-August 2025.
In January-August 2026 the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 2.9% and amounted to 341.1 thousand square meters.Of thisthe total areain multi-apartment buildingsdecreasedby 4.4%(165 thousand square meters), the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation - by 0.1%(175.9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 404562.3 million tenge, or 102.3% by January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of august 1, 2026 amounted to 14883 units and decreased by 1.0% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14524 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 13249 units, including 12893 units –small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11523 units and decreased by 0.8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product according to preliminary data for January-March 2026 amounted to 986 539.6 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 94.7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 45.8%, services – 49%.
Consumer price index August 2026 by December 2025 amounted to 106.9%, including for food products –105.6%, non-food – 108.1%, paid services to the population – 106.8%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 decline by 1.6%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 357539.5 million tenge, or 2.8% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 799364.3 million tenge, or 98.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 343.2 million US dollars, including exports – 67.0 million dollars, imports – 276.2 million US dollars.
