The population of the region as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 797,1 thousand people, including 458,4 thousand people (57,9%) - urban, 333,3 thousand people (42,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January - April 2026 amounted to 515 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 486 people).
The number of births as January - April 2026 amounted to 2793 people (1,7% more than in January - April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2278 people (0,8% less than in January - April 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 1537 people (in January - April 2025 –-30 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 65 people (145 people), in internal - positive - 1472 people (-175 people).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 18.3 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 7159 people, or 1.7% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 378763 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 10.3%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 97.6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2026 amounted to 1031199.9 million tenge in current prices, which is 8.3% less than in January-May 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 5.1%, in the manufacturing industry decreased by 12.7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increased by 7.3%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 5.5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-Мау 2026 amounted to 174309,3 million tenge, or 103,2% by January- Мау 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to 9159.1 million tkm (accounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 89.1% compared to January-May 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 333.1 million pkm, or 121.3% by January-May 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 69505.4 million tenge, or 103.4% by January- May 2025.
In January- May 2026 the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2.2% and amounted to 160.7 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 45.3% (69.5 thousand square meters), the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 16.6% (91.2 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- May 2026 amounted to 194674.9 million tenge, or 107.3% by January- May 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 14992 units and decreased by 0.8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14657units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12291 units, including 11960units –small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11753 units and decreased by 0.9% increased to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product according to preliminary data for 2025 amounted to 5 332 870,9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 106,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 54.8%, services – 42.5%.
Consumer price index May 2026 by December 2025 amounted to 104.8%, including for food products – 104.5%, non-food – 105.2% paid services to the population – 104.6%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2026 compared to December 2025 incresed by 6.5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 194133.5 million tenge, or 1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 432402.5 million tenge, or 101.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 182.8 million US dollars, including exports – 35.1 million dollars, imports – 147.7 million US dollars.
