The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 792.3 thousand people, including 459.0 thousand people (57.9%) - urban, 333.3 thousand people (42.1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January - May 2026 amounted to 676 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 671 people).
The number of births as January - May 2026 amounted to 3452 people (1.3% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2776 people (1.8% less than in January - May 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 2039 people (in January - May 2025 – -7 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 46 people (127 people), in internal - positive - 1993 people (-120 people).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 18.3 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July1, 2026 amounted to 7444 people, or 1.8% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 378763 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 10.3%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 97.6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 1306693 million tenge in current prices, which is 4.2% less than in January-June 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 3.1%, in the manufacturing industry decreasedby 7.6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water andconditioned airthere was an increased by 15%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 4.3%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January – June 2026 amounted to 218262,5 million tenge, or 104,7% by January – June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 10886.3 million tkm (accounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 104.9% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –405.9 million pkm, or 120.6% by January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 128381 million tenge, or 107.9% by January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026 the total area of housing put into operation increased by 0.5% and amounted to 274.4 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings -by 12.1%(157.5 thousand square meters),the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 10.3%(116.7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January - June 2026 amounted to 329207.1 million tenge, or 102.9% by January - June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 128381 million tenge, or 107.9% by January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026 the total area of housing put into operation increased by 0.5% and amounted to 274.4 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings -by 12.1%(157.5 thousand square meters),the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 10.3%(116.7 thousand square meters).

The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 14846units and decreased by 0.3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14492units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 13142units, including 12791units –small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11629units and decreased by 0,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product according to preliminary data for 2025 amounted to 5 332 870,9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 106,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 54.8%, services – 42.5%.
Consumer price index June 2026 by December 2025 amounted to 105.7%, including for food products –104.7%, non-food – 106.6%, paid services to the population – 105.7%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 incresed by 9.4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 245676.4 million tenge, or 1,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 557499.4 million tenge, or 100.2% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 238.9 million US dollars, including exports – 47.5 million dollars, imports – 191.4 million US dollars.
