Population size and migration

The population of the region as of December 1, 2025 amounted to 687,9 thousand people, including 310,8   thousand people (45,2% ) - urban, 377,1 thousand people (54,8%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in November 2025 amounted to 332 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year   533 people).

The number of births as November 2025 amounted to 752 people (22,2 % less than in November 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 420 people (3,0 % less than in November 2024).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – 787 people (in November 2024 - 1202 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of   68 people (20), in internal – 855 people and (-1222).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the III quarter of 2025 amounted to 14268 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of December 1, 2025 amounted to 4843 people, or 2,6 % of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the III quarter of 2025 amounted to 331 211 tenge, an increase compared to the III quarter of 2024 amounted to 18,1%.

The real wage index in III quarter 2025 was 106,3%.

In the III quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 168 387 tenge, which is 16,9 % higher than in III quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 106,6%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production in January-December 2025 amounted to 417 362, 3 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,3% more than in January- December 2024.

In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 9,9%, in the manufacturing industry volumes increased by-2,5% in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was by 14,3% in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination of waste decreased by 6,8%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-December 2025 amounted to 483 187,8 million tenge, or 102,2 % by January-December 2024.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-December 2025 amounted to 16 648,1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or, 149,8% compared to January- December 2024.

The volume of passenger traffic – 617,5 million pkm, or 104,8% by January-December 2024.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 443945,2 million tenge, or 109.7% compared to January- December 2024.

In January- December 2025 the total area of housing put into operation increased by 11% and amounted to 412,8 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings decreased by – 20,7% (113,8 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings increased by 29,6% (296 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- December 2025 amounted to 610855,3 million tenge, or 112,8% by January- December 2024.

The number of registered legal entities as of January 1, 2026 amounted to 8 496 units and increased by 2,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8 260 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7 164 units, including 6 930 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6 488 units and increased by 3,5% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

Economics

The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2025 amounted to 957421,0 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-June 2024, real GRP increased by 8,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 31,9%, services – 58,5%.

The consumer price index in December   2025 compared to December 2024 was 112,2%.

Prices for food products increased by 12,5%, non-food products – by 12,9%, paid services for the population – by 10,8%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to December 2024 increased by 7,6%.

The volume of retail trade in January-December 2025 amounted to 330 767,1 million tenge, or 5,8% more than the corresponding period in 2024.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-December 2025 amounted to 665 293,1 million tenge, or 2,3% more than the corresponding period in 2024.

According to preliminary data, in January-November 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 122 737,3 thousand US dollars and decreased by 6,8% compared to January-November 2024, including exports – 62 275,9 thousand US dollars (by 17,1% less), imports – 60 461,3 thousand US dollars (6,3% less).
