The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 683 thousand people, including 315 thousand people (46%) - urban, 368 thousand people (54%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January- August 2026 amounted to 3166 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year 3794 people).
The number of births as January - August 2026 amounted to 6431 people (11% lees than in January - August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3265 people (2,4 % less than in January - August 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -8057 people (in January - August 2025 - 8480 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 390 people (388 people), in internal - 8447 people and (in January - August 2025 -8868 people).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 14138 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as by the end of September 1, 2026 amounted to 16809 people, or 5,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 377798 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 9,1%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 95,2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 363 587 million tenge in current prices, which is 29,8% more than in January- September 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes rose by 44,8%, in the manufacturing industry volumes increased by 31,5 %, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning rose by 21,6%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by – 2,6%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 362389,4 million tenge, or 102,7 % by January- September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 10527,3 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 112,1% compared to January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 526,6 million pkm, or 112,6% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 192592,9 million tenge, or 71,9% compared to January- September 2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 10,1% and amounted to 274,6 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings it decreased by – 47,1 % (45,1 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 42,3% (229,5 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 270743,3 million tenge, or 73,2% by January- September 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 8717 units and increased by 1,5% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8479 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7032 units, including 6796 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6746 units and increased by 3,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted to 1093958,8 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- June 2025, real GRP increased by 7,9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 29,6%, services – 62,1%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 108,3%.
Prices for food products increased by 8,2%, non-food products – by 8,8%, paid services for the population – by 7,9%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 13,3%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 274378,2 million tenge, or 4,6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 608009,1 million tenge, or 5,3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 88 011,0 thousand US dollars and more by 4,6% compared to January-August 2025, including exports –37 020,4 thousand US dollars (by 13,9% less), imports –50 990,6 thousand US dollars (by 24,1% more).
