The population of the region as of June 1, 2024 amounted to 696,8 thousand people, including 311,2 thousand people (44,7% ) - urban, 385,6 thousand people (55,3%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-May 2024 amounted to 3178 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 3437 people).

The number of births as January-May 2024 amounted to 5296 people (3,2% less than in January- May 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 2118 people (4,2 % more than in January- May 2023).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - 4393 people (in January- May 2023 - -2886 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - +101 people (+53), in internal - negative - 4494 people and (-2939).

The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 15046 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of Jule 1, 2024 amounted to 14762 people, or 4,7% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 270205 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2023 amounted to 9,7%. The real wage index in I quarter 2024 was 100,1%.

In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 129531 tenge, which is 14,8% higher than in I quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 104,7%.

The volume of industrial production in January-June 2024 amounted to 159 494,6 million tenge in current prices, which is 3.0% more than in January-June 2023.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 86.4%, in the manufacturing industry increased volumes - by 0.5% in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was by 0.2% in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities - by 18,1%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-Juny 2024 amounted to 80 318.6 million tenge, or 101.2 % by January-Juny 2023.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2024 amounted to 5 379,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 76,9% compared to January-June 2023.
The volume of passenger traffic – 297,8 million pkm, or 93% by January-June 2023.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 92801,0 million tenge, or 133,8% compared to January-June 2023.
In January-June 2024, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 11,3% and amounted to 115.5 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings decreased by – 0.9% (39.1 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 23,4% (76,4 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- June 2024 amounted to 136657.4 million tenge, or 138,5% by January- June 2023.
The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2024 amounted to 8 304 units and increased by 1,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8 074 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 6 625 units, including 6 397 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6 223 units and increased by 2,4 % compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2024 amounted to 392798,7 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- March 2023, real GRP increased by 8,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 30,0%, services – 63,4%.

The consumer price index in June 2024 compared to December 2023 was 104.6%.

Prices for food products increased by 4.5%, non-food products – by 2.1%, paid services for the population – by 8.1%.                 The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 0.5%.

The volume of retail trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 122 125,6 million tenge, or 29,4% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 222 676,2 million tenge, or 20% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

According to preliminary data, in January-May 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 55 142,0 million US dollars and decreased by 16,6% compared to January-May 2023, including exports –27 402,1 million US dollars (by 31,5% less), imports – 27 739,9 million US dollars(6,1% more).
