The population of the region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 686,8 thousand people, including 315,6 thousand people (46,0% ) - urban, 371,2 thousand people (54,0%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in Marth 2026 amounted to 371 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year 440 people).
The number of births as Marth 2026 amounted to 795 people (4,9% increased than in Marth 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 424 people (7,1 % less than in Marth 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – 717 people (in Marth 2025 - 825 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 102 people (49), in internal – 819 people and (-874).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 13 889 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as by the end of April, 2026 amounted to 16 186 people, or 5,4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 346 199 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 112,2%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 100,0%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 179 210 tenge, which is 16,9 % higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 103,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 142 773,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 28,4% more than in January- April 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes rose by 256,6%, in the manufacturing industry volumes increased by 26,4%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning rose by 15,1%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by – 9,5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 56 025,5 million tenge, or 101,6 % by January-April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 4631,4 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or, 106,8% compared to January- April 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 199,5 million pkm, or 116,7 % by January- April 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 50775,3 million tenge, or 89,9% compared to January- April 2025.
In January- April 2025, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 12,9% and amounted to 81,3 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings it decreased by – 49,8% (14,5 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 55,0% (66,8 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- April 2026 amounted to 74918,1 million tenge, or 73,5% by January- April 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 8 594 units and increased by 1,6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8 357 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7 252 units, including 7 017 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6 606 units and increased by 3 % compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January- December 2025 amounted to 2450790,8 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- December 2024, real GRP increased by 5,8%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 39,3%, services – 53,4%.
The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,6%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,0%, non-food products – by 3,2%, paid services for the population – by 3,5%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,6%.
The volume of retail trade in January- April 2026 amounted to 97872,3million tenge, or 2,6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January- April 2026 amounted to 137901,8 million tenge, or 99,3% less than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 11055,0 thousand US dollars and incnea by 123,1% compared to March 2025, including exports – 4 273,8 thousand US dollars (by 79,3% more), imports – 6 781,1 thousand US dollars (127,4% less).
