The population of the region as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 687,1 thousand people, including 315,7 thousand people (45,9% ) - urban, 371,4 thousand people (54,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January 2026 amounted to 441 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year 363 people).
The number of births as January 2026 amounted to 810 people (4,6% increased than in January 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 369 people (9,8 % less than in January 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to – 1035 people (in January 2025 - 1192 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 93 people (8), in internal – 1128 people and (-1200).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 14199 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 14062 people, or 4,7 % of the labor force.
The volume of industrial production in January-February 2026 amounted to 66 216, 2 million tenge in current prices, which is 23,1 more than in January-February 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes rose by 41.2%, in the manufacturing industry volumes increased by 19,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning rose by 19.1%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by – 6,0%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-February 2026 amounted to 18 842,2 million tenge, or 101,4 % by January-February 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-February 2026 amounted to 2 411,9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or, 128,6% compared to January 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 96,9 million pkm, or 120,8 % by January-February 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 13 912,7 million tenge, or 124,2% compared to January-February 2025.
In January-February 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 12,7% and amounted to 32,1 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-February 2026 amounted to 21 864,5 million tenge, or 58,1% by January-February 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 8 580 units and increased by 2,0% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8 343 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7 232 units, including 6 997 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6 582 units and increased by 3,4% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted to 1 665 187,3 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- September 2024, real GRP increased by 6,8%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 34,9%, services – 56,3%.
The consumer price index in February 2026 compared to December 2025 was 101,9%.
Prices for food products increased by 2,3%, non-food products – by 1,2%, paid services for the population – by 2,0%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in February 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 1,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 49 354,2 million tenge, or 1,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 57 198,9 million tenge, or 1,8% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 8 621,4 thousand US dollars and decreased by 143,5% compared to January 2025, including exports – 3 551,2 thousand US dollars (by 12,5% less), imports – 5 070,2 thousand US dollars (260% more).
