The population of the region as of April1, 2026 amounted to 513 thousand people, including 258,2 thousand people (50,3%) – urban, 254,8 thousand people (49,7%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-March 2026 amounted to -399 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – -461 people).
The number of births as January-March 2026 amounted to 1059 people (2% less in January-March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1458 people (5,4% less than in January-March 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -742 people (in January-March 2025– -1763 people), including in external migration –18(-36), in internal –-760 people (-1727 people).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 11,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered in Career Centers as unemployed as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 5035 people, or 1,9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 326664 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,9%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 223880 tenge, which is 5,5% higher than in IV quarter 2024. The real money income index for the specified period was 92,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 326991,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 27,6% more than in January-April 2025. In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 22,3%, in the manufacturing industry – by 28,9%,in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air – by 18,3%, in water supply, collection, treatment and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution – by 30,5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 60721,6 milliontenge, or 102,8% by January-April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 2966,3 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 89,9% compared to January-April 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –162,1 million pkm, or 104,7% by January-April 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 25934 million tenge, or 103,9% compared to January-April 2025.
In January-April 2026, the total area of commissioned housing increased by 5,3% and amounted to 46,3 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment residential buildings – by 2,5 times (3,3 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of commissioned individual buildings increased by 0,8% (43 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 118686,9 million tenge, or 106,7% by January-April 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 10973 units and decreased by 2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 10709 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 9076 units, including 8812 units – small businesses.The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 8137 units and decreased by 2,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January- December2025 amounted to 3053960,1 million tenge at current prices. GRP increased by 7,8% in real terms compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 51,7%, services – 45,8%.
The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104%.
Prices for food products increased by 3,4%, non-food products – by 4,6%, paid services for the population – by 4%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 2,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-April2026 amounted to 141837,3 million tenge, or 0,8% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 251115,6 million tenge, or 134,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 200,4 million US dollars and increased by 55,9% compared to January-March 2025, including exports – 13,7 million US dollars (by 12,6% less), imports – 186,7 million US dollars (65,4% more by).
