The population of the region as of January 1, 2025 amounted to 522,2 thousand people, including 258,2 thousand people (49,4%) – urban, 264 thousand people (50,6%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-December 2024 amounted to -976 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year –-326 people).
The number of births as January-December 2024 amounted to 5112 people (8,3% less than in January-December 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 6088 people (3,2% more than in January-December 2023).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -6946 people (in January-December 2023 – -3654 people), including in external migration –-1692 people (-181), in internal –-5254 people (-3473).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 13,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of February 1, 2025 amounted to
4029 people, or 1,4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 315540 tenge, an increase compared to the IV quarter of 2023 amounted to 12,9%.
The real wage index in IV quarter 2024 was 103,4%.
In the III quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 202941 tenge, which is 13,2% higher than in III quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 3,9%.
The volume of industrial production in January 2025 amounted to 49292,3 million tenge in current prices, which is 22,1% more than in January 2024.
In the manufacturing industry, production volumes increased by 25,4%, in the mining industry – by 33,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air, production volumes decreased by 2,2%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 14,2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January 2025 amounted to 12807,8 million tenge, or 106,5% by January 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January 2025 amounted to 831,2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 92,5% compared to January 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic –37,6 million pkm, or 67,1% by January 2024.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2024 amounted to 1809191,2 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of 2023, real GRP increased by 8,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 43%, services – 50,3%.
The consumer price index in January 2025 compared to December 2024 was 100,8%.
Prices for food products increased by 1%, non-food products – by 0,8%, paid services for the population – by 0,7%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in January 2025 compared to December 2024 decreased by 0,1%.
The volume of retail trade in January 2025 amounted to 23197,4 million tenge, or 0,8% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January 2025 amounted to 27464,6 million tenge, or 110,1% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January-December 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to
721,7 million US dollars and increased by 12,4% compared to January-December 2023, including exports – 112 million US dollars (by 17,4% less), imports – 609,7 million US dollars (20,4% more).
