The population of the region as of May, 2026 amounted to 512,7 thousand people, including 258,1 thousand people (50,3%) – urban, 254,6 thousand people (49,7%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-April 2026 amounted to -547 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – -552 people).
The number of births as January-April 2026 amounted to 1453 people (3,2% less in January-April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2000 people (2,6% less than in January-April 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -883 people (in January-April 2025– -2169 people), including in external migration –9(-27), in internal –-892 people (-2142 people).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 11,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered in Career Centers as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 4957 people, or 2,0% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 326664 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,9%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 223880 tenge, which is 5,5% higher than in IV quarter 2024. The real money income index for the specified period was 92,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2026 amounted to 395966,0 million tenge in current prices, which is 19,9% more than in January-May 2025. In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 8,1%, in the manufacturing industry – by 19,4%,in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air – by 25,4%, in water supply, collection, treatment and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution – by 22,7%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May l 2026 amounted to 80420,2 milliontenge, or 102,8% by January-May 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to 3754 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 90,1% compared to January- May 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –209,5 million pkm, or 107,7% by January-May 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 40362,7 million tenge, or 111,5% compared to January-May 2025.
In January-May 2026, the total area of commissioned housing decreased by 5,3% and amounted to 53,9 thousand square meters, of which in individual buildings – by 14,1% (44,6 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of commissioned multi-apartment residential buildings increased by 1,9 times (9,3 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2026 amounted to 161020,9 million tenge, or 104,6% by January-May 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 10949 units and decreased by 2,6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 10685 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 9058 units, including 8794 units – small businesses.The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 8111 units and decreased by 3,6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January- December2025 amounted to 3053960,1 million tenge at current prices. GRP increased by 7,8% in real terms compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 51,7%, services – 45,8%.
The consumer price index in May 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,8%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,1%, non-food products – by 5,7%, paid services for the population – by 4,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 2,3%.
The volume of retail trade in January-Мay 2026 amounted to 184126 million tenge, or 0,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 343102,4 million tenge, or 134% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 263,1 million US dollars and increased by 52,3% compared to January-April 2025, including exports – 21 million US dollars (5,2% more by), imports – 242,1 million US dollars (58,4% more by).
