The population of the region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 716,7 thousand people, including 393 thousand people (54,8% ) - urban, 323,7 thousand people (45,2%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 1567 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1610 people).
The number of births as January- February 2026 amounted to 2085 people (2,9% less than in January- February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 518 people (3,5% less than in January- February 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to - -913 people (in January- February 2025–-547 people), including in external migration - 51 people (59), in internal - -964 people (-606).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 17951 people. The unemployment rate was 4,9% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 20237 people, or 5,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 609534 tenge, an decreased compared to the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 4.9%. The real wage index in IV quarter 2025 was 83,7%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 297065 tenge, which is 10.5% lower than in IV quarter 2024, real cash income for the specified period decreased 21.2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-March 2026 amounted to 2603293 million tenge in current prices, or 78,4% compared to January-March 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 25,8%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 8,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 7,6%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 37,5% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 18635,5 million tenge, or 101,2% by January-March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-march 2026 amounted to 14022,7 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 88,3% compared to January- february 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 843,9 million pkm, or 55,2% by January-march 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 87706 million tenge, or 107,2% or than in January-March 2025.
In January-March 2026, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 21.9% and amounted to 87 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 14.8% (80.4 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 300952 million tenge, or 100.2% compared to January-March 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-september 2025 amounted to (according to operational data) 11546368,9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-september 2024, real GRP amounted to 109,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 57.4%, services – 30.3%.
The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102.8%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 4.5%, non-food products – 2.5%, food products - by 2.2%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to March 2026 accounted for 100%.
The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 150012.5 million tenge, 3.7% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 1643518.6 million tenge, or 98% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 51.1 million US dollars and less by 8% compared to January- February 2025, including exports – 10.5 million US dollars (by 33.8% less), imports –40.6 million US dollars (2.3% more).
