The population of the region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 717,3 thousand people, including 393,3 thousand people (54,8% ) - urban, 324 thousand people (45,2%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-March 2026 amounted to 2332 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 2458 people).
The number of births as January-March 2026 amounted to 3153 people (3,2% less than in January- March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 821 people (2,5% more than in January-March 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to - -1056 people (in January-March 2025–-759 people), including in external migration - 66 people (89), in internal - -1122 people (-848).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 18553 people. The unemployment rate was 4,9% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 19296 people, or 5,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 652950 tenge, an increased compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 3%. The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 91,8%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 297065 tenge, which is 10.5% lower than in IV quarter 2024, real cash income for the specified period decreased 21.2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 4454471 million tenge in current prices, or 86,1% compared to January-April 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 17,3%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 11,3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 10,1%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 22,7% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 26057,5 million tenge, or 101,2% by January-April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-april 2026 amounted to 19079,2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 89,4% compared to January- april 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic -2057,1 million pkm, or 54,3% by January- april 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 123215 million tenge, or 101,9% or than in January-April 2025.
In January- April 2026, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 9,7% and amounted to 132 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 19,9% (101 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 408330 million tenge, or 100,7% compared to January-April 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-december 2025 amounted to (according to operational data) 16564592,4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-december 2024, real GRP amounted to 108,0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56.5%, services – 31.3%.
The consumer price index in Aprill 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103.5%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 5%, non-food products – 3.6%, food products - by 2.7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to Aprill 2026 accounted for 119%.
The volume of retail trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 202065.6 million tenge, 3.9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 2295447.3 million tenge, or 99.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 97.7 million US dollars and increased by 8% compared to January-March 2025, including exports – 20.8 million US dollars (by 17% less), imports –76.8 million US dollars (17.6% more).
