The population of the region as of June 1, 2024 amounted to 708,3 thousand people, including 390,8 thousand people (55,2% ) - urban, 317,5 thousand people (44,8%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-May 2024 amounted to 4970 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 5317 people).

The number of births as January-May 2024 amounted to 6480 people (3,8% less than in January-May 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 1510 people (6,6% more than in January-May 2023).

The balance of migration amounted to - -754 people (in January-May 2023 - -186 people), including in external migration - 306 people (265), in internal - -1060 people (-451).

The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 17692 people. The unemployment rate was 4,9% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2024 amounted to 17867 people, or 4,9% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 604052 tenge, an decreased compared to the I quarter of 2023 amounted to 2,3%. The real wage index in I quarter 2024 was 89,1%.

In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 362866 tenge, which is 1.8% lower than in I quarter 2023, real cash income for the specified period decreased 10.5%.

The volume of industrial production in January- june 2024 amounted to 5220937 million tenge in current prices, which is 2% less than in January-june 2023.

In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 2,1%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 5,5% in the manufacturing industry - by 2%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 18,6%.          

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2024 amounted to 32335,8 million tenge, or 103,5% by January-June 2023.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2024 amounted to 22894,1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,9% compared to January-June 2023.

The volume of passenger traffic – 2446,1 million pkm, or 108,3% by January-June 2023.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 385540 million tenge, or 77.1% compared to January-June 2023.

In January-June 2024, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 11.7% and amounted to 237.4 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 5% (214.9 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2024 amounted to 933072 million tenge, or 64.8% by January-June 2023.

Number of registered legal entities as of july 1, 2024 amounted to 14515 units and decreased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14123 units with less than 100 employees.

The volume of gross regional product for January-marcb 2024 amounted to (according to operational data) 3153451.1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-marcb 2023, real GRP amounted to 98.4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 55,2%, services – 36,1%.

The consumer price index in June 2024 compared to December 2023 was 104%.

Prices for paid services for the population increased by 5,2%, non-food products - by 3,8%, food products – by 3,5%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2024 compared to December 2023 decreased by 2,5%.

The volume of retail trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 243953,3 million tenge, or 3,3% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 2967421,6 million tenge, or 91,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

According to preliminary data, in January-May 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 120 million US dollars and decreased by 23,6% compared to January-May 2023, including exports – 26,1 million US dollars (by 35,5% less), imports – 93,9 million US dollars (19,9% less).
