The population of the region as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 717,8 thousand people, including 393,6 thousand people (54,8% ) - urban, 324,2 thousand people (45,2%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January- April 2026 amounted to 2985 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 3353 people).
The number of births as January- April 2026 amounted to 4111 people (8% less than in January- April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1126 people (0,9% more than in January- April 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to - -1194 people (in January-April 2025–-1131 people), including in external migration - 83 people (130), in internal - -1277 people (-1261).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 18553 people. The unemployment rate was 4,9% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 18008 people, or 4,8% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 652950 tenge, an increased compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 3%. The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 91,8%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 297065 tenge, which is 10.5% lower than in IV quarter 2024, real cash income for the specified period decreased 21.2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2026 amounted to 6251308 million tenge in current prices, or 90,8% compared to January-May 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 11,9%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 10,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 9,6%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 21,1% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May 2026 amounted to 35373,7 million tenge, or 101,5% by January-May 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-may 2026 amounted to 24633,1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 91,6% compared to January- may 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic -1400,8 million pkm, or 54,1% by January-may 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 171975 million tenge, or 106,8% or than in January-May 2025.
In January-May 2026, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 13,6% and amounted to 163,6 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 21,7% (122 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2026 amounted to 537022 million tenge, or 100,4% compared to January-May 2025.
Number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 14706 units and increased by 0.3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14320 units with less than 100 employees.The number of operating legal entities amounted to 11954 units, among which 11568 units are small enterprises.The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12665 units and increased by 0.5 % compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-december 2025 amounted to (according to operational data) 16564592,4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-december 2024, real GRP amounted to 108,0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56.5%, services – 31.3%.
The consumer price index in May 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104.5%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 6.6%, non-food products – 4.4%, food products - by 3.5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to May 2026 accounted for 137.6%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 249262.2 million tenge, 3.4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 3055104.6 million tenge, or 102.2% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 125.3 million US dollars and decreased by 8.8% compared to January-April 2025, including exports – 27.9 million US dollars (by 13.1% less), imports –97.4 million US dollars (7.4% less).
