The population of the region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 718,5 thousand people, including 394,2 thousand people (54,9% ) - urban, 324,3 thousand people (45,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 4336 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 5040 people).
The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 6042 people (10% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1706 people (1,8% more than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to – -1881 people (in January-June 2025–-1996 people), including in external migration - 78 people (201), in internal – -1959 people (-2167).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 18014 people. The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 15905 people, or 4,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 652950 tenge, an increased compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 3%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 91,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-jule 2026 amounted to 9014014 million tenge in current prices, or 92,2% compared to January-jule 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 10,2%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 10,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 8%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 10,6% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-jule 2026 amounted to 63240,2 million tenge, or 101,8% by January-jule 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-jule 2026 amounted to 35465,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 94% compared to January-june 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic -2054,6 million pkm, or 62,3% by January-june 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 387583 million tenge, or 127,9% or than in January-jule 2025.
In January-jule 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,6% and amounted to 311 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 26,4% (176 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-jule 2026 amounted to 890797 million tenge, or 103,7% compared to January-jule 2025.
Number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 14742 units and increased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14358 units with less than 100 employees.The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12017 units, among which 11633 units are small enterprises.The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12688 units and increased by 0.3 % compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-march 2026 amounted to (according to operational data) 3171217,3 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- march 2025, real GRP amounted to 87.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 50.6%, services – 39.6%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106.2%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 8.7%, non-food products – 6.5%, food products - by 4.8%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to July 2026 accounted for 119,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 381321.7 million tenge, 4.4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 3950218.6 million tenge, or 97.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January- June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 194.8 million US dollars and decreased by 1.5% compared to January- June 2025, including exports – 47.9 million US dollars (by 5% less), imports –146.9 million US dollars (0.3% less).
