The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 718,2 thousand people, including 393,7 thousand people (54,8% ) - urban, 324,5 thousand people (45,2%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 3656 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 4200 people).
The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 5045 people (9,6% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1359 people (0,6% more than in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to - -1477 people (in January-May 2025–-1446 people), including in external migration - 84 people (141), in internal - -1561 people (-1587).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 18553 people. The unemployment rate was 4,9% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of Jule 1, 2026 amounted to 15163 people, or 4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 652950 tenge, an increased compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 3%. The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 91,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-june 2026 amounted to 7810801 million tenge in current prices, or 92,9% compared to January-june 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 9,3%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 9,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 9,7%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 16,2% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-june 2026 amounted to 47721,4 million tenge, or 101,8% by January-june 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-june 2026 amounted to 30229,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 95,3% compared to January-june 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic -1716,4 million pkm, or 58,6% by January-june 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 313470 million tenge, or 119,7% or than in January-june 2025.
In January-june 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,7% and amounted to 264,2 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 21% (153 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-june 2026 amounted to 736177 million tenge, or 104,9% compared to January-june 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-march 2026 amounted to (according to operational data) 3171217,3 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- march 2025, real GRP amounted to 87.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 50.6%, services – 39.6%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105.6%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 8.2%, non-food products – 5.6%, food products - by 4.2%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to June 2026 accounted for 135,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 313291.9 million tenge, 3.4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 3645862 million tenge, or 108% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January- May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 161.7 million US dollars and decreased by 3.2% compared to January- May 2025, including exports – 35.1 million US dollars (by 14.6% less), imports –126.6 million US dollars (0.6% more).
