The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 718,3 thousand people, including 394,5 thousand people (54,9% ) - urban, 323,8 thousand people (45,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 5784 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 6788 people).
The number of births as January- August 2026 amounted to 8089 people (11,1% less than in January- August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2305 people (0,3% less than in January- August 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to–-3544 people (in January- August 2025–-3626 people), including in external migration – 82 people (300), in internal – -3626 people (-3936).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 18014 people. The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1. 2026 amounted to 13154 people, or 3.5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 631555 tenge, an increased compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 7,9%. The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 96.6%.
In the II quarter of 2026 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 304479 tenge, which is 1.5% lower than in II quarter 2025, real cash income for the specified period decreased 11.8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-september 2026 amounted to 12433570 million tenge in current prices, or 94% compared to January-september 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 8,5%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 13,6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 6,2%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 7,9% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-september 2026 amounted to 117619,2 million tenge, or 101,8% by January-september 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-september 2026 amounted to 46642 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 94,3% compared to January-september 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic - 2695,4 million pkm, or 67,6% by January-september 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 561834 million tenge, or 122,2% or than in January-september 2025.
In January-september 2026, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 15,6% and amounted to 402 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 23,4% (256 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-september 2026 amounted to 1205506 million tenge, or 103,7% compared to January-september 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-june 2026 amounted to (according to operational data) 8298543.9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- june 2025, real GRP amounted to 97.1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 52.7%, services – 34.9%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 107.4%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 9.3%, non-food products – 9%, food products - by 5.5%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to September 2026 accounted for 117.1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 514724.7 million tenge, 3.9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 5478705.6 million tenge, or 100% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 255,7 million US dollars and decreased by 3,2% compared to January-August 2025, including exports – 69 million US dollars (by 10.6% more), imports –186.6 million US dollars (7.5% less).
