The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 718,5 thousand people, including 394,3 thousand people (54,9% ) - urban, 324,1 thousand people (45,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 5157 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 5926 people).
The number of births as January-July 2026 amounted to 7148 people (10% less than in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1991 people (2% less than in January-July 2025).
The balance of migration amounted to–-2727 people (in January-July 2025–-2835 people), including in external migration – 79 people (265), in internal – -2806 people (-3100).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 18014 people. The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 16242 people, or 4,3% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 631555 tenge, an increased compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 7,9%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 96,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-august 2026 amounted to 10406033 million tenge in current prices, or 93,2% compared to January-august 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 9,5%, in the manufacturing industry increased by – 14,3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 6,6%, in the supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 9,6% more.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-august 2026 amounted to 86101,9 million tenge, or 102,7% by January-august 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-august 2026 amounted to 41349,6 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 94,3% compared to January- august 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic -2408,1 million pkm, or 65,6% by January- august 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 467355 million tenge, or 137,3% or than in January-august 2025.
In January-august 2026, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 1,6% and amounted to 359 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted decreased by 25,6% (213 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-august 2026 amounted to 1054779 million tenge, or 105,6% compared to January-august 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-march 2026 amounted to (according to operational data) 3171217,3 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- march 2025, real GRP amounted to 87.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 50.6%, services – 39.6%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106,8%.
Prices for paid services for the population increased by 8,7%, non-food products – 8%, food products - by 5,2%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to August 2026 accounted for 115,8%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 453514.1 million tenge, 4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 4661405.6 million tenge, or 96% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January- July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 228.1 million US dollars and decreased by 0.6% compared to January- July 2025, including exports – 60.4 million US dollars (by 6.7% more), imports –167.7 million US dollars (3% less).
