The population of the region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 594,8 thousand people, including 374,3 thousand people (62,9%) - urban, 220,5 thousand people (37,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 341 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 465 people).
The number of births was January-February 2026 amounted to 1136 people (11,3% less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 795 people (2,5% January-February 2025).
In January-February 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to – -1295 people (in January-February 2025 – -1448 people), while the number of external migration was – 29 people (6), in internal-negative – -1324 people and (-1454).
The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 14,7 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 9,4 thousand people, or 3% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 406275 tenge, an increase compared to the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 11,7%.
The real wage index in IV quarter 2025 was 99,9%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 219264 tenge, which is 13,9% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 101,9%.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-March 2026 compared to January-March 2025 increased by 1%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 8,1%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 5,1%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 40,3%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in March 2026 amounted to 50576,6 million tenge, or 103,5% by March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 4486,2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 107,5% compared to January-March 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –309,9 million pkm, or 106% by January-March 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 20923,3 million tenge, or 99,1% by January-March 2025.
In January- March 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 41,3% and amounted to 34,6 thousand square meters.The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 61,5% (14,4 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 47,4% (20,2 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 83897,3 million tenge, or 121,8% by January- March 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 8545 units and increased by 1,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8264 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7332 units, including 7051 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6401 units and increased by 1,3%. compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted to 2385779,8 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-September 2024, real GRP increased by 1,5%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56,5%, services – 42,1%.
The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102,7%.
Prices for food products increased by 3%, non-food products–by 2,3%, paid services for the population–by 2,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 13,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 135723.2 million tenge, or 1,3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 77557.5 million tenge, or 106,8% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 245550,0 thousand US dollars increased by 2,8 times compared to January-February 2025, including exports – 46667,7 thousand US dollars (by 5,5% less), 198882,2 thousand US dollars (by 5,0 more).
