The population of the region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 594,3 thousand people, including 374,2 thousand people (63,0% ) - urban, 220,1 thousand people (37,0%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-March 2026 amounted to 553 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 684 people).
The number of births was January-March 2026 amounted to 1797 people (6,7% less than in January-March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1244 people (0,2% more than in January-March 2025 ).
In January-March 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to - -1953 people (in January-March 2025 - -2093 people), while the number of external migration was – 41 people (-17), in internal-negative - -1994 people and (-2076).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,2 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 9,6 thousand people, or 3,1% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 405425 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 14,2%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 102,4%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 219264 tenge, which is 13,9% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 101,9%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 1140185,6 million tenge in current prices, which is 2,8% more than in January-April 2025.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-April 2026 compared to January-April 2025 increased by 0,5%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 7,9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 8,5%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 31,7%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in April 2026 amounted to 76551 million tenge, or 103,1% by April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 5607 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 98,6% compared to January- April 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –415,2 million pkm, or 104,5% by January-April 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 34355,3 million tenge, or 105,8% by January-April 2025.
In January-April 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 46,0% and amounted to 42,8 thousand square meters.The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 65,3% (15,1 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 51,2% (27,7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 111029 million tenge, 119,4% by January-April 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 8582 units and increased by 1,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8302 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7342 units, including 7062 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6437 units and increased by 2,5%. compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 3934564,7 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-December 2024, real GRP increased by 1,2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 61,8%, services – 37,6%.
The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,4%.
Prices for food products increased by 3,5%, non-food products–by 3,2%, paid services for the population–by 3,4%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 5,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 185033 million tenge, or 2,7% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 109340 million tenge, or 103,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 344682,8 thousand US dollars increased by 2,5 times compared to January-February 2025, including exports – 56182,7 thousand US dollars (by 17,3% less), 288500,1 thousand US dollars (by 4,0 more).
