The population of the region as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 593,9 thousand people, including 374,3 thousand people (63% ) - urban, 219,6 thousand people (37%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-April 2026 amounted to 761 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 832 people).
The number of births was January-April 2026 amounted to 2436 people (6,2% less than in January-April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1675 people (5,1% less than in January-April 2025 ).
In January-April 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to - -2589 people (in January-April 2025 - -2903 people), while the number of external migration was – 49 people (-17), in internal-negative - -2638 people and (-2886).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,2 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 9,4 thousand people, or 3,1% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 405425 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 14,2%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 102,4%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 219264 tenge, which is 13,9% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 101,9%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2026 amounted to 1421217,2 million tenge in current prices, which is 1,6% more than in January-May 2025.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-May 2026 compared to January-May 2025 decreased by 1,3%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 7,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 18%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 25,5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in May 2026 amounted to 106131,2 million tenge, or 103,5% by May 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to 7032,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 98,1% compared to January- May 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –524,9 million pkm, or 103,3% by January-May 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-May 2026 amounted to 58120,9 million tenge, or 120,9% by January-May 2025.
In January-Мау 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 55,2% and amounted to 54 thousand square meters.The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 107,9% (19 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 47,1% (35 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2026 amounted to 150507 million tenge, 123,5% by January-May 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 8609 units and increased by 1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8328 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7274 units, including 6993 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6456 units and increased by 1,5%. compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 3934564,7 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-December 2024, real GRP increased by 1,2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 61,8%, services – 37,6%.
The consumer price index in May 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,8%.
Prices for food products increased by 3,8%, non-food products–by 4,1%, paid services for the population–by 3,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 1,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 234902,5 million tenge, or 3,4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 144562 million tenge, or 103,8% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 397379,5 thousand US dollars increased by 98,6% times compared to January-April 2025, including exports – 60695 thousand US dollars (by 37,9% less), imports-336684,5 thousand US dollars (by 3,3 more).
