The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 590,7 thousand people, including 373,8 thousand people (63,3% ) - urban, 216,9 thousand people (36,7%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 1347 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1897 people).
The number of births was January-August 2026 amounted to 4914 people (9,3% less than in January-August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3567 people (1,2% more than in January-August 2025).
In January-August 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to - -6365 people (in January-August 2025 - -6729 people), while the number of external migration was – 21 people (-42), in internal-negative - -6386 people and (-6687).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of November 1, 2026 amounted to 9,9 thousand people, or 3,3% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 422043 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 10,6%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 101%.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-September 2026 compared to January-September 2025 decreased by 1,1%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 19,5%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 51,1%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 405688,0 million tenge, or 104,5% by January-September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 12711,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 108,6% compared to January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –1007,5 million pkm, or 100,7% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 240410 million tenge, or 111,5% by January- September 2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 8,3% and amounted to 173,1 thousand square meters. The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 6,1% (108,3 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 15,9% (64,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 417689,6 million tenge, 102,8% by January-September 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 8789 units and increased by 2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8505 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7425 units, including 7141 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6564 units and increased by 1,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted to 1783465,5 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-June 2025, real GRP increased by 5,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 57,9%, services – 39,3%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,5%.
Prices for food products increased by 3,6%, non-food products – by 7,6%, paid services for the population – by 6,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 2,1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 524810,7 million tenge, or 5,7% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 328537,0 million tenge, or 104,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 776965,6 thousand US dollars increased by 14,5% times compared to January-August 2025, including exports 193142,1 thousand US dollars (by 12% less), imports - 583823,5 thousand US dollars (by 27,2 more).
