The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 593,6 thousand people, including 374,5 thousand people (63,1%) - urban, 219,1 thousand people (36,9%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 912 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1037 people).
The number of births was January-May 2026 amounted to 3028 people (7,2% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2116 people (4,9% less than in January-May 2025).
In January-May 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to - -3049 people (in January-May 2025 - -3805 people), while the number of external migration was – 46 people (-27), in internal-negative - -3095 people and (-3778).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,2 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 9,4 thousand people, or 3,1% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 405425 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 14,2%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 102,4%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 1710957,3 million tenge in current prices, which is 1,5% more than in January-June 2025.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-June 2026 compared to January-June 2025 decreased by 0,3%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 4,0%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 20,1%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 20,3%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in June 2026 amounted to 157486,8 million tenge, or 103,8% by June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 8382,2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 112.2% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 647,2 million pkm, or 102,3% by January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 125072,5 million tenge, or 131,0% by January- June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 4.5% and amounted to 128.3 thousand square meters.The total area of multi-apartment buildings decreased - by 3.2% (84,2 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 29,9% (44,1 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 232 338 million tenge, 123,2 % by January-June 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 8622 units and increased by 1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8340 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7287 units, including 7005 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6461 units and increased by 1,4%. compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 889702.4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 3.7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 60.2%, services – 37.1%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,7%.
Prices for food products increased by 4.4%, non-food products–by 5.1%, paid services for the population–by 4,6%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 12,1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 307088.7 million tenge, or 4,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 188745.7 million tenge, or 104,4% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 440898,0 thousand US dollars increased by 74,4% times compared to January-May 2025, including exports 80056,4 thousand US dollars (by 33,5% less), imports-360841,6 thousand US dollars (by 1,7 more).
