The population of the region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 592,9 thousand people, including 374,3 thousand people (63,1%) - urban, 218,6 thousand people (36,9%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 1076 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1286 people).
The number of births was January-June 2026 amounted to 3683 people (6,9% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2604 people (2,5% less than in January-June 2025).
In January-June 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to – -3904 people (in January-June 2025 – -4669 people), while the number of external migration was – 32 people (-40), in internal-negative – -3936 people and (-4629).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 9,7 thousand people, or 3,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 405425 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 14,2%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 102,4%.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-July 2026 compared to January-July 2025 increased by 0,5%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 2,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 22,5%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 64,8%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in July 2026 amounted to 213352,1 million tenge, or 103,8% by July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 9788,8 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 110,4% compared to January- July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –779,5 million pkm, or 101,6% by January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 154068,1 million tenge, or 123,1% by January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 7,2% and amounted to 138,5 thousand square meters. The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 4,2% (91,5 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 19% (46,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 282788 million tenge, 116,1% by January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 8646 units and increased by 1,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8365 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7260 units, including 6979 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6471 units and increased by 1,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 889702,4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 3,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 60,2%, services – 37,1%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,4%, non-food products–by 6%, paid services for the population–by 5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 12,1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 378574,4 million tenge, or 5,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 239149.0 million tenge, or 104,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 511548,9 thousand US dollars increased by 48,6% times compared to January-June 2025, including exports 115855,6 thousand US dollars (by 21,1% less), imports-395693,3 thousand US dollars (by 2 more).
