The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 591,9 thousand people, including 374,0 thousand people (63,2% ) - urban, 217,9 thousand people (36,8%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 1210 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1581 people).
The number of births was January-July 2026 amounted to 4301 people (8,5% less than in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3091 people (0,9% less than in January-July 2025).
In January-July 2026, the migration balance in the region was negative and amounted to – -5027 people (in January-July 2025 – -5545 people), while the number of external migration was – 21 people (-50), in internal-negative – -5048 people and (-5495).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 14,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 9,8 thousand people, or 3,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 422043 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 10,6%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 101%.
In the mining industry volume of production in January-August 2026 compared to January-August 2025 decreased by 0,8%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 3,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 20,9%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities increased by 56,7%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-August 2026 amounted to 279698,8 million tenge, or 104,8% by January-August 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 11227,9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 109,2% compared to January-August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –909,8 million pkm, or 101,3% by January-August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) in January-August 2026 amounted to 195245,9 million tenge, or 120,6% by January-August 2025.
In January-August 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 5,6% and amounted to 147,4 thousand square meters.The total area of multi-apartment buildings increased - by 5,9% (96,9 thousand square meters), of individual residential buildings increased put into operation by 9,2% (50,5 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 340626,1 million tenge, 112,3 % by January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 8713 units and increased by 1,5% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 8429 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 7362 units, including 7078 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 6530 units and increased by 1,9%. compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 889702,4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 3,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 60,2%, services – 37,1%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,4%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,3%, non-food products–by 7%, paid services for the population–by 5,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 5,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 452875,2 million tenge, or 5,4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 284287,5 million tenge, or 104,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 638089,8 thousand US dollars increased by 33% times compared to January-July 2025, including exports 173166,8 thousand US dollars (by 1,6% less), imports - 464923,1 thousand US dollars (by 53,2 more).
