The population of the city as of December 1, 2024 amounted to 1253.3 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-November 2024 amounted to 22264 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 23965 people).
The number of births in January-November 2024 amounted to 26874 people (5.8% less than in January-November 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 4610 people (0.7% more than in January-November 2023).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to – 8950 people (in January-November 2023 - 2939 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of – 579 people (456), in internal – positive – 8371 people (2483).
The number of unemployed in the III quarter of 2024 amounted to 22.4 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.8% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed of January 1, 2025 amounted to 8898 people, or 1.9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the III quarter of 2023 amounted to 309733 tenge, an increase compared to the III quarter of 2023 amounted to 16.1%. The real wage index in III quarter 2023 was 107.9%.
In the III quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 141625 tenge, which is 19.5% higher than in III quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 11.1%.
The volume of industrial production in January-December 2024 amounted to 1157248 million tenge in current prices, which is 3% more than in January-December 2023.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 17.9%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities a decrease production by 22.6%.
In the manufacturing industry increased - by 3.7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increase of 1.2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-December 2024 amounted to 51783 million tenge, or 99.8% by January-December 2023.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-December 2024 amounted to 14670.1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 132.7% compared to January-December 2023.
The volume of passenger traffic – 4858.3 million pkm, or 93% compared to the level of January-December 2023.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 310897.3 million tenge, or 114% compared to January- December 2023.
In January-December 2024, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 26.1% and amounted to 1366.8 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 21.2% (822.9 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted to 132.6% (525.8 thousand square meters) and hostels 18.1 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-December 2024 amounted to 766072.3 million tenge, or 112.1% by January-December 2023.
The number of registered legal entities as of January 1, 2025 amounted to 29457 units and increased by 4.3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 29015 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 23451 units, including 23019 units - small businesses.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the сity amounted to 27058 units and increased by 4.3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2024 amounted to 2923322 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-September 2023, real GRP increased by 9.1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 23.1%, services – 70.3%.
The consumer price index in December 2024 compared to December 2023 was 107.4%.
Prices for food products increased by 3.9%, non-food products – by 8.7%, paid services for the population – by 10.8%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 6.1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-December 2024 amounted to 1063951.9 million tenge, or 20.5% more than the corresponding period in 2023.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-December 2024 amounted to 2007446.9 million tenge, or 120.2% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
According to preliminary data, in January-November 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 574.8 million US dollars and decreased by 15.5% compared to January-November 2023, including exports – 106.2 million US dollars (by 16.6% less), imports – 468.6 million US dollars (15.3% less).
