The population of the city as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 1310.7 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 10059 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 10599 people).
The number of births in January-June 2026 amounted to 12482 people (4.5% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2423 people (2.2% less than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to – 6572 people (in January-June 2025 – 10980 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of – 95 people (142), in internal – positive – 6477 people (10838).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 22.4 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed of August 1, 2026 amounted to 13811 people, or 2.8% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 350374 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 9%. The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 97.8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 969480.7 million tenge in current prices, which is 10.7% more than in January-July 2025.
In water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities a production by increase 15%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increase of 24.9%
In the manufacturing industry increase by 9.5%, in the mining industry, production volumes increase by 33.3%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 34342.1 million tenge, or 104.4% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 12342.5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100.2% compared to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –4295.2 million pkm, or 120% compared to the level of January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 161348 million tenge, or 112.5% compared to January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 8.2% and amounted to 643.4 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 43.3% (522 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted to 51.7% (119.1 tousand square meters), dormitory – 2.3 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 393009.5 million tenge, or 86% by January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 29341 units and decreased by 1.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 28847 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 24930 units, including 24447 units - small businesses.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the сity amounted to 27045 units and decreased by 0.9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 1351838 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 8.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 30.1%, services – 61.6%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105.5%.
Prices for food products increased by 5.5%, non-food products – by 5.6%, paid services for the population – by 5.2%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 3.2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-Jule 2026 amounted to 764805.1 million tenge, or 6.9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-Jule 2026 amounted to 1677533.3 million tenge, or 132.1% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 247 million US dollars and decreased by 14.2% compared to January-June 2025, including exports –55.7 million US dollars (by 23.7% less), imports – 191.3 million US dollars (10.9% less).
