The population of the city as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 1308.1 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 8287 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 8684 people).
The number of births in January-May 2026 amounted to 10261 people (4.2% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1974 people (2.7% less than in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to – 5783 people (in January-May 2025 – 9448 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of – 96 people (134), in internal – positive – 5687 people (9314).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 22.3 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed of July 1, 2026 amounted to 13995 people, or 2.9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 350374 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 9%. The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 97.8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 817459.3 million tenge in current prices, which is 11% more than in January-June 2025.
In water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities a production by increase 14.2%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increase of 28.2%
In the manufacturing industry increase by 9.6%, in the mining industry, production volumes increase by 11.2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 29090 million tenge, or 103% by January-June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 10512.6 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 99.7% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –3583.1 million pkm, or 119.2% compared to the level of January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 136255.7 million tenge, or 112.9% compared to January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 8% and amounted to 558.6 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 39.7% (445 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted to 56% (111.3 tousand square meters), dormitory – 2.3 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 308384.8 million tenge, or 80% by January-June 2025.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the сity amounted to 27116 units and decreased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 1351838 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 8.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 30.1%, services – 61.6%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105%.
Prices for food products increased by 5.2%, non-food products – by 5%, paid services for the population – by 4.6%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 1,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 628465 million tenge, or 6.1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 1356340.6 million tenge, or 130.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 203.5 million US dollars and decreased by 12.6% compared to January-May 2025, including exports –45.5 million US dollars (by 19.1% less), imports – 158.1 million US dollars (10.5% less).
