The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 11739 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 12615 people).
The number of births in January-July 2026 amounted to 14732 people (5.6% less than in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2993 people, or 100% compared to the level January-July 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to – 7559 people (in January-July 2025 – 12444 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of – 109 people (175), in internal – positive – 7450 people (12269).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 22.4 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4.6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed of September 1, 2026 amounted to 11570 people, or 2.4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 377710 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 9.4%. The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 99.4%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 1125945.9 million tenge in current prices, which is 12.4% more than in January-August 2025.
In water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities a production by increase 11.9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was an increase of 21.2%

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-August 2026 amounted to 40661.3 million tenge, or 104% by January-August 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 14139.8 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101.3% compared to January-August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic –5043.6 million pkm, or 121% compared to the level of January-August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 191034 million tenge, or 113.9% compared to January-August 2025. In January-August 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 8.2% and amounted to 708.9 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 38.4% (578,5 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation amounted to 54% (128.1 tousand square meters), dormitory – 2.3 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 500326.6 million tenge, or 101.3% by January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 29384 units and decreased by 1.3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 28895 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 24999 units, including 24516 units - small businesses.
The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the сity amounted to 27086 units and decreased by 1.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 1351838 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP increased by 8.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 30.1%, services – 61.6%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 107%.
Prices for food products increased by 6%, non-food products – by 7.2%, paid services for the population – by 8.7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4.8%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 908219 million tenge, or 6.6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 2183034 million tenge, or 138.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 291,4 million US dollars and decreased by 13.3% compared to January-July 2025, including exports –67.3 million US dollars (by 22.7% less), imports – 224.1 million US dollars (10% less).
