The population of Zhambyl region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 1212,7 thousand people, including 587,8 thousand people (48,5%) – urban, 624,9 thousand people (51,5%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 6218 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 7052 people).
The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 9680 people (9% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3462 people (3,5% less than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -9176 people (in January-June 2025 – -9402 people), including in external migration – a positive balance 4 people (-155), in internal migration–a negative balance -9180 people (-9247).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 25092 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 19231 people or 3,7% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 328952 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,5%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 847897,8 million tenge in current prices, which is 18,2% more than in January-July 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 9,2%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 25,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there increase by 7,3%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities has been noted decrease by 4,2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 180192,5 million tenge or 105,5% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 12173,9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) or 101,3% to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic 1183,4 million pkm or 107,3% by January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 198061,8 million tenge or 114,7% by January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 1,7% and amounted to 372,7 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings increased by 46,7% (164,2 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings decreased by 16,7% (208,5 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 571031,4 million tenge or 156,4% by January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 14559 units and decreased by 5,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14147 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12202 units, including 11790 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11450 units and decreased by 6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 763998,1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to January-March 2025 real GRP increased by 11,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 41,1%, services – 56%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,1%.
Prices for food products increased by – 5,2%, non-food products by 5%, paid services for the population by – 5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 350122,9 million tenge or 2,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 270812,4 million tenge or 102,2% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 181,9 million US dollars and increased by 3% compared to January-June 2025, including exports – 73 million US dollars (2,3% more), imports – 108,8 million US dollars (3,4% more).
