The population of Zhambyl region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 1214,5 thousand people, including 587,5 thousand people (48,4%) – urban, 627 thousand people (51,6%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-March 2026 amounted to 3196 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 3457 people).
The number of birthsas January-March 2026 amounted to 4773 people (6,9% less than in January-March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1577 people (5,7% less than in January-March 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -4351 people (in January-March 2025 – -4748 people), including in external migration – a positive balance 56 people (-52), in internal migration – a negative balance -4407 people (-4696).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 25170 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 16979 people or 3,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 328952 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,5%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 172382 tenge, which is 9,1% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 97,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 471323,6 million tenge in current prices, which is 20,6% more than in January-April 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 14,5%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 28,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there increase by 4%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment anddisposal, pollution elimination activities has been noted increase by 16%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 65086,3 million tenge or 102,3% by January-April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 7091,3 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) or 85,9% to January-April 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic 726 million pkm or 119,9% by January-April 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 74816,3 million tenge or 127,3% by January-April 2025.
In January-April 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 1,8% and amounted to 176,3 thousand square meters, of which in individual residential buildings increased by 2,1% (110,7 thousand square meters), in multi-apartment buildings - by 4,4% (65,6 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 277228,3 million tenge or 138,3% by January-April 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 14365 units and decreased by 6,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 13952 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12300 units, including 11887 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11262 units and decreased by 7,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 3322177 million tenge at current prices. Compared to January-December 2024 real GRP increased by 4,9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 44,1%, services – 53,9%.
The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,7%.
Prices for non-food products increased by 4%, food products by – 3,6%, paid services for the population by – 3,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 5,6%.
The volume of retail trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 183481,9 million tenge or 3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 126317,1 million tenge or 105,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 71,5 million US dollars and decreased by 11,4% compared to January-March 2025, including exports – 25,5 million US dollars (3,4% less), imports – 46 million US dollars (15,3% less).
