The population of Zhambyl region as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 1214 thousand people, including 587,7 thousand people (48,4%) – urban, 626,3 thousand people (51,6%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-April 2026 amounted to 4136 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 4636 people).
The number of birthsas January-April 2026 amounted to 6354 people (8,8% less than in January-April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2218 people (4,8% less than in January-April 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -5752 people (in January-April 2025 – -6416 people), including in external migration – a positive balance 45 people (-59), in internal migration – a negative balance -5797 people (-6357).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 25170 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 18346 people or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 328952 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,5%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 172382 tenge, which is 9,1% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 97,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2026 amounted to 587558,8 million tenge in current prices, which is 17,9% more than in January-May 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 11%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 24,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there increase by 6,3%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment anddisposal, pollution elimination activities has been noted increase by 6,8%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May 2026 amounted to 85663,8 million tenge or 102,5% by January-May 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to 8847,4 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) or 86,8% to January-May 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic 871,8 million pkm or 112,2% by January-May 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 97173,2 million tenge or 122,8% by January-May 2025.
In January-May 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 0,9% and amounted to 224 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings increased by 31,3% (84,9 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings decreased by 10,5% (139,1 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2026 amounted to 405321,3 million tenge or 157,2% by January-May 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 14412 units and decreased by 6,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 13996 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12047 units, including 11631 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11310 units and decreased by 7,4% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 3322177 million tenge at current prices. Compared to January-December 2024 real GRP increased by 4,9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 44,1%, services – 53,9%.
The consumer price index in May 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,2%.
Prices for non-food products increased by 4,5%, food products by – 4,1%, paid services for the population by – 4,1%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 5,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 227829,1 million tenge or 2,4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 165323,4 million tenge or 106% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 106,6 million US dollars and decreased by 5,8% compared to January-April 2025, including exports – 39 million US dollars (6,1% less), imports – 67,6 million US dollars (5,6% less).
