The population of Zhambyl region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 1213,5 thousand people, including 587,8 thousand people (48,4%) – urban, 625,7 thousand people (51,6%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 5108 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 5816 people).
The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 7894 people (10,2% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2786 people (6,4% less than in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -7208 people (in January-May 2025 – -7726 people), including in external migration – a positive balance 33 people (-108), in internal migration– a negative balance -7241 people (-7618).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 25170 people.
The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July1, 2026 amounted to 18170 people or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 328952 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,5%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 95,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 718708 million tenge in current prices, which is 18,5% more than in January-June 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 10,9%, in the manufacturing industry increased by 25,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there increase by 6,9%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities has been noted increase by 1,5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 121992,2 million tenge or 103,3% by January-June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June2026 amounted to 10499,1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) or 101,9% to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic 1023,6 million pkm or 108,9% by January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to165384,9 million tenge or 113,4% by January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,6% and amounted to 326 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings increasedby 40,6% (149 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings decreasedby 15,6% (177 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 505827,8 million tenge or 159,6% by January-June 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 14469 units and decreased by 5,5% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14054 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12116 units, including 11701 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 11364 units and decreased by 6,4% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 763998,1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to January-March 2025 real GRP increased by 11,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 41,1%, services – 56%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,8%.
Prices for non-food products increased by 4,9%, food products by – 4,8%, paid services for the population by – 4,8%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products inJune 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 6,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 292293,2 million tenge or 2,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 229113,1 million tenge or 104% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026 mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 141 million US dollars and decreased by 1,2% compared to January-May 2025, including exports – 53,5 million US dollars (6,6% less), imports – 87,5 million US dollars (2,4% more).
