The population of the region as of September 1, 2025 amounted to 720,6 thousand people, including 486,7 thousand people (67,5%) – urban, 233,9 thousand people (32,5%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-August 2025 amounted -365 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural increase in the population amounted to 209 people).
The number of births as January-August 2025 amounted to 4994 people (12,1% less in January-August 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 5359 people (2,1% less in January-August 2024).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2987 people (in January-August 2024 – -1978 people), including in external migration – a negative balance of -156 people (-412), in internal – negative -2831 people and (-1566).
The number of unemployed in the ІI quarter of 2025 amounted to 17,4 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1, 2025 amounted to 13,6 thousand people, or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 417717 tenge, an increase compared to the ІI quarter of 2024 amounted to 11,4%.
The real wage index in IІ quarter 2025 was 100,3%.
In the I quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 247586 tenge, which is 12,8% higher than in I quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 102,9%.
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2025 amounted to 2387987,5 million tenge in current prices, which is 6,6% less than in January- September 2024.
In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes decreased by 4,4%, in the manufacturing industry by – 7,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning – by 5,3%, in the water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities 4,5% was noted increased.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-September 2025 amounted to 349 991.7 million tenge, or 100.9% by January- September 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2025 amounted to 4471,2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 89,1 % compared to January- September 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1497,6 million pkm, or 110,1 % by January- September 2024.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 275377,5 million tenge, or 110,8% compared by January-September 2024.
In January-September 2025, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 4% and amounted to 210,4 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 6,7% (62,6 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2025 amounted to 542185,6 million tenge, or 115,7% by January- September 2024.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2025 amounted to 14912 units and decreasedby 0,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year , including 14541 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12053 units, including 11683 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12128 units and decreasedby 1,0% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2025 amounted to 2211495,4 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-June 2024, real GRP decreased by 3,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 53%, services – 47%.
The consumer price index in September 2025 compared to December 2024 was 110,0%.
Prices for food products increased by 9,8%, non-food products – by 8,7%, paid services for the population – by 11,7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2025 compared to December 2024 increased by 17,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2025 amounted to 939067,2 million tenge, or 0,2% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2025 amounted to 742691 million tenge, or 116,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1045,9 million US dollars and decreased by 0,6% compared to January-August 2024, including exports – 363,7 million US dollars (by 26,5% less), imports – 682,2 million US dollars (22,4% more).
