The population of the region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 717,6 thousand people, including 486,1 thousand people (67,7%) – urban, 231,5 thousand people (32,3%) – rural residents.

The natural decline in the population in January-March 2026 amounted -368 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to -273 people).

The number of births as January-March 2026 amounted to 1567 people (8,3% fewer than in January-March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1935 people (2,4% fewer than in January-March 2025).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1024 people (in January-March 2025 – -892 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of - 142 people (20), in internal – negative -1166 people and (-912).

The number of unemployed in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 17,5 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 13,3 thousand people, or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 438659 tenge, an increase compared to the І quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,4%.
The real wage index in І quarter 2026 was 97,1%.
In the IV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amount-ed to 282775 tenge, which is 11,9% higher than in IV quarter 2024, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 99,6%.

The volume of industrial production in January-April 2026 amounted to 1137595,0 million tenge in current prices, which is 5,3% less than in January-April 2025.

In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes decreased by 3,5%, in the manufacturing industry– by 6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioned - by 5,4%, in water supply; sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities an increase of 8,8% was noted.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 76 909,9 million tenge, or 102,1% by January- April 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 1728.9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 86.5 % compared to January-April 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic – 525.9 million pkm, or 88.7 % by January-April 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 87730,7 million tenge, or 112,7% compared by January-April 2025.

In January-April 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,4% and amounted to 72,2 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 0,3% (22,9 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 202019,7 million tenge, or 108,7% by January-April 2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 14853 units and increased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14486 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12245 units, including 11880 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12090 units and increased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 5857379 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-December 2024, real GRP increased by 0,9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 52.8%, services – 46.6%.

The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,9%.

Prices for food products increased by 4,0%, non-food products – by 4,1%, paid services for the population – by 3,7%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 0,9%.

The volume of retail trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 396513,9 million tenge, or 0,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 319248,2 million tenge, or 116,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 719,7 million US dollars and in-creased by 2,5 times compared to January-March 2026, including exports – 189,9 million US dollars (by 30,8% more), imports – 529,8 million US dollars (3,7 times more).
