The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 715,5 thousand people, including 485,7 thousand people (67,9%) – urban, 229,8 thousand people (32,1%) – rural residents.

The natural decline in the population in January-August 2026 amounted -848 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to -365 people).

The number of births as January-August 2026 amounted to 4484 people (10,2% less in January-August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 5332 people (0,5% fewer than in January-August 2025).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2601 people (in January-August 2025 – -2987 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of 95 people (-156), in internal – negative -2696 people and (-2831).

The number of unemployed in the ІІ quarter of 2026 amounted to 17,7 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 13,8 thousand people, or 3,6% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the ІІ quarter of 2026 amounted to 454226 tenge, an increase compared to the ІІ quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,7%.

The real wage index in ІI quarter 2026 was 98,5%.

The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 2584134,4 million tenge in current prices, which is 5,7% less than in January-September 2025.

In the mining and quarrying industry, production volumes decreased by 5,6%, in the manufacturing industry – by 6,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning an increase of 2,6% was noted, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 7,9%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 386534,5 million tenge, or 103,4% by January-September 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 3910,4 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,7% compared to January-September 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic – 1286,9 million pkm, or 85,9% by January-September 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 341682,5 million tenge, or 115,2% compared by January-September 2025.

In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,8% and amounted to 216,4 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 15,7% (52,7 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 632066,3 million tenge, or 108,4% by January-September 2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 14943 units and increased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14579 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12429 units, including 12067 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12144 units and increased by 0,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted to 2595893 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-June 2025, real GRP decreased by 1,2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 55,6%, services – 42,4%.

The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 107,1%.

Prices for food products increased by 5,3%, non-food products – by 8,3%, paid services for the population – by 8,4%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 decreased by 2,6%.

The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 1053198,5 million tenge, or 0,8% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 826977,5 million tenge, or 103,5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1615,8 million US dollars and in-creased by 49,2% compared to January-August 2025, including exports – 525,2 million US dollars (by 31,9% more), imports – 1090,6 million US dollars (59,3% more).
