The population of the region as of March 1, 2025 amounted to 723,1 thousand people, including 486 thousand people (67,2% ) – urban, 237,1 thousand people (32,8%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-February 2025 amounted 198 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to 3 people).
The number of births as January-February 2025 amounted to 1126 people (22,7% less in January- February 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 1324 people (9,3% less in January-February 2024).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -616 people (in January-February 2024 – -470 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of 19 people (-18), in internal – negative -635 people and (-452).
The number of unemployed in the ІV quarter of 2024 amounted to 17,8 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2025 amounted to 13303 people, or 3,4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 413258 tenge, an increase compared to the ІV quarter of 2023 amounted to 10,5%. The real wage index in ІV quarter 2024 was 101,5%.
In the IV quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 254423 tenge, which is 12,4% higher than in IV quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 103,2%.
The volume of industrial production in January-March 2025 amounted to 724588 million tenge in current prices, which is 12,5% less than in January-March 2024.
In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes decreased by 1,2%, in the manufacturing industry by – 16,9%, in the supply of electricity, In water supply; sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 6,2%, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioned of 9,8% was noted.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-March 2025 amounted to 46 620,0 million tenge, or 104,0% by January-March 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2025 amounted to 1518,9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 92,5% compared to January-March 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic – 442,8 million pkm, or 108,4% by January-March 2024.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 46345 million tenge, or 113,1% compared by January-March 2024.
In January-March 2025, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 1,7% and amounted to 66,4 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 1,9% (18,8 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2025 amounted to 127609,6 million tenge, or 117,9% by January-March 2024.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2025 amounted to 14816 units and decreasedby 1,0% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year , including 14450 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12018 units, including 11653 units- small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12060 units and decreasedby 1,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2024 amounted to 3336587,8 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- September 2023, real GRP increased by 5,1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 49,5%, services – 43,8%.
The consumer price index in March 2025 compared to December 2024 was 104,5%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,7%, non-food products – by 2,4%, paid services for the population – by 6,4%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2025 compared to December 2024 increased by 0,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-March 2025 amounted to 261430,5 million tenge, or 0,3% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2025 amounted to 175934,8 million tenge, or 107,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January- February 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 159,4 million US dollars and decreased by 15,9% compared to January- February 2024, including exports – 73,2 million US dollars (by 11,8% more), imports – 86,2 million US dollars (19,1% more).
