The population of the region as of January 1, 2026 amounted to 718,9 thousand people, including 486,4 thousand people (67,7%) – urban, 232,5 thousand people (32,3%) – rural residents.

The natural decline in the population in January-December 2025 amounted -699 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural increase in the population amounted to 309 people).

The number of births as January-December 2025 amounted to 7451 people (12,4% less in January-December 2024), the number of deaths amount-ed to 8150 people (0,5% less in January-December 2024).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -4323 people (in January-December 2024 – -3382 people), including in external migration – a negative balance of -75 people (-587), in internal – negative -4248 people and (-2795).

The number of unemployed in the ІV quarter of 2025 amounted to 17,8 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 10,9 thousand people, or 2,8% of the labor force.

The volume of industrial production in January 2026 amounted to 235383,0 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,3% less than in January 2025.

In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes decreased by 6,6%, in the manufacturing industry by – 2,2%, in the supply of electricity, in water supply; sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 5,3%, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioned of 3,2% was noted.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January 2026 amounted to 14658,4 million tenge, or 95,6% by January 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January 2026 amounted to 532,6 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 94,2 % compared to January 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic – 132,9 million pkm, or 94,7 % by January 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 8658,8 million tenge, or 103,0% compared by January 2025.

In January 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 1,4% and amounted to 4,7 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 2,1% (4,7 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January 2026 amounted to 39010,7 million tenge, or 116,1% by January2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 14849 units and decreasedby 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14482 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12283 units, including 11917 units- small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12094 units and decreasedby 0,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted to 3512881,2 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-September 2024, real GRP decreased by 1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 51,6%, services – 47,4%.

The consumer price index in January 2026 compared to December 2025 was 101,1%.

Prices for food products increased by 0,8%, non-food products – by 1,4%, paid services for the population – by 1,2%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in January 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 3,4%.

The volume of retail trade in January 2026 amounted to 87313,7 million tenge, or 0,4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January 2026 amounted to 59979,5 million tenge, or 120,8% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-December 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1774,3 million US dollars and in-creased by 11% compared to January-December 2025, including exports – 638,5 million US dollars (by 15,4% less), imports – 1135,8 million US dollars (34,7% more).
