The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 717thousand people, including 485,9 thousand people (67,8%) – urban, 231,1thousand people (32,2%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-May 2026 amounted -574 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to -357 people).
The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 2709 people (10%less in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3283 people (2,5% less in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1442 people (in January-May 2025 –-1431 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of 134 people (13), in internal – negative-1576 people and (-1444).
The number of unemployed in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 17,5 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 12,7 thousand people, or 3,3% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 438659 tenge, an increase compared to the І quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,4%.
The real wage index in І quarter 2025 was 97,1%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 1777021,2 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,6% less than in January-June 2025.
In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes decreased by 0,7%, in the manufacturing industry – by 4,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioned - by 0,4%, in water supply; sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities an increase of 7,9% was noted.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 135 710,8 million tenge, or 103,3% by January-June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 2593,6 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 102,5% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 821,5 million pkm, or 87,1% by January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 184472,1 million tenge, or 122,3% compared by January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 3,4% and amounted to 150,6 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 12,3% (36,5 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 346786,4 million tenge, or 109,9% by January-June 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as ofJuly1, 2026 amounted to 14859 units and increased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year including 14493 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12241 units, including 11877 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12086 units and increased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted to 3512881,2 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-December 2024, real GRP decreased by 1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 51,6%, services – 47,4%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,4%.
Prices for food products increased by 5,0%, non-food products – by 5,7%, paid services for the population – by 5,7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 2,7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 645281,0 million tenge, or 0,6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 478448,5 million tenge, or 111,2% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1031,3 million US dollars and increased by 79,9% compared to January-May 2026, including exports – 315,4 million US dollars (by 26,7% more), imports – 715,9 million US dollars (2,2 times more).
