The population of the region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 716,5 thousand people, including 486 thousand people (67,8%) – urban, 230,5 thousand people (32,2%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-June 2026 amounted -685 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to -390 people).
The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 3350 people (8% less in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 4035 people (at the level of the corresponding period of the previous year).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1851 people (in January-June 2025 – -1874 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of 110 people (-55), in internal – negative -1961 people and (-1819).
The number of unemployed in the ІI quarter of 2026 amounted to 17,7 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August1, 2026 amounted to 13,3 thousand people, or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 438659 tenge, an increase compared to the І quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,4%.
The real wage index in І quarter 2026 was 97,1%.
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 2047759,5 million tenge in current prices, which is 4,3% less than in January-July 2025.
In the mining and quarrying industry, production volumes decreased by 2,8%, in the manufacturing industry – by 5,5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning an increase of 3,1% was noted, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 7,6%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 180718,4 million tenge, or 103,4% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 3016,6 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,7 % compared to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 985,3 million pkm, or 86,1 % by January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 248200,4 million tenge, or 124,5% compared by January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 3,5% and amounted to 156,5 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 15,3% (39,8 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 431305,1 million tenge, or 105,2% by January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 14876 units and increased by 0,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14511 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12245 units, including 11882 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12093 units and increased by 0,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 1359032,1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP decreased by 3,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56,9%, services – 39,8%.
The consumer price index in Jule 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,9%.
Prices for food products increased by 5,2%, non-food products – by 6,4%, paid services for the population – by 6,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in Jule 2026 compared to December 2025 decreased by 3,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 784311,3 million tenge, or 0,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 566418,6 million tenge, or 100,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1189,9 million US dollars and increased by 77,1% compared to January-June 2026, including exports – 387,9 million US dollars (by 34,5% more), imports – 802,1 million US dollars (2,1 times more).
