The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 716 thousand people, including 485,9 thousand people (67,9%) – urban, 230,1 thousand people (32,1%) – rural residents.
The natural decline in the population in January-July 2026 amounted -752 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year, the natural decline in the population amounted to -375 people).
The number of births as January-July 2026 amounted to 3951 people (8,6% less in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 4703 people (at the level of the corresponding period of the previous year).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2194 people (in January-July 2025 – -2452 people), including in external migration – a positive balance of 101 people (-117), in internal – negative -2295 people and (-2335).
The number of unemployed in the ІІ quarter of 2026 amounted to 17,7 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 13,5 thousand people, or 3,5% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the ІІ quarter of 2026 amounted to 454226 tenge, an increase compared to the ІІ quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,7%.
The real wage index in ІI quarter 2026 was 98,5%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 2281722,4 million tenge in current prices, which is 6,2% less than in January-August 2025.
In the mining and quarrying industry, production volumes decreased by 5,8%, in the manufacturing industry – by 7,1%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning an increase of 2,5% was noted, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 8,2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-August 2026 amounted to 236 156,0 million tenge, or 103,9% by January-August 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 3453,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 101,5% compared to January-August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1149,7 million pkm, or 86,0% by January-August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 286596,1 million tenge, or 120,4% compared by January-August 2025.
In January-August 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 4,7% and amounted to 172,4 thousand square meters. At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 5,4% (47,1 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 510704,3 million tenge, or 104,6% by January-August 2025
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 14912 units and increased by 0,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 14547 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 12378 units, including 12015 units – small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 12123 units and increased by 0,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 1359032,1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-March 2025, real GRP decreased by 3,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 56,9%, services – 39,8%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106,2%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,9%, non-food products – by 7,2%, paid services for the population – by 6,9%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 decreased by 2,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 920914,0 million tenge, or 0,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 680402,4 million tenge, or 100,4% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1377,3 million US dollars and in-creased by 57,8% compared to January-July 2026, including exports – 469,4 million US dollars (by 38,8% more), imports – 907,8 million US dollars (69,8% more).
