The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 1130,1 thousand people, including 935,9 thousand people (82,8% ) – urban, 194,2 thousand people (17,2%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 1246 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 2212 people).
The number of births as January-August 2026 amounted to 8372 people (8,8% less than in January-August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 7126 people (2,3% more than in January-August 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2476 people (in January-August 2025 – -3983 people), including in internal – -2347 people in internal migration (-3609), and – -129 people in external migration (-374).
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 4200949,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 4,9% more than in January-September 2025. In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 1,1%, in the manufacturing industry - by 6,4%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air supply air there was by 2,8%. In water supply, sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 13,3%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to
381326,9 million tenge, or 100,9% by January-September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 27882,6 million tkm (аccounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,9% compared to January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 2655,9 million pkm, or 111,6% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 411118 million tenge, or 84% by January-September 2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of commissioned housing decreasedby 28,2% and amounted to 291,6 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment residential buildings the area decreasedby 31,3% (239,4 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings – by 10,6% (51,3 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 808982,9 million tengeor 95,4% compared to January-September 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 27983 units and decreased by 2,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 27435 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 22682 units, including 22141 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 24368 units and decreased by 2,4% compared to the corresponding date in 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted to 4340263 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real GRP increased by 2,1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 48,7%, services – 47,6%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,8%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,1%, non-food products – by 7,8%, paid services for the population – by 5,9%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 1396399,6 million tenge, or 0,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January- September 2026 amounted to 2235266,2 million tenge, or 0,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1964,3 million US dollars and increased by 3,1% compared to January-August 2025, including exports – 1037,7 million US dollars (by 6,7% less), imports – 926,6 million US dollars (16,8% more).
