The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 450 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 279 people).
The number of births as January-February 2026 amounted to 2056 people (1,4% less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1606 people (8,1% less than in January-February 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -190 people (in January-February 2025 – -688 people), including in internal – -285 people in internal migration (-730), and – 95 people in external migration (42).
The number of unemployed the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 20,7 thousand people.
The volume of industrial production in January-March 2026 amounted to 1305,9 million tenge in current prices, which is 5,9% more than in January-March 2025. In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 1%, in the manufacturing industry - by 7,6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air supply air there was by 5,6%. In water supply, sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 13,3%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 40516,5 million tenge, or 104,4% by January-March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 9759.4 million tkm (аccounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 93,2% compared to January- March 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 908,6 million pkm, or 124% by January- March 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 67979,4 million tenge, or 101,6% compared to January-March 2025.
In January-March 2026, the total area of commissioned housing increased by 26% and amounted to 67,6 thousand square meters, of which the area in multi-apartment residential buildings increased by 36,2% (54,4 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of commissioned individual residential buildings decreased by 3,7% (13,2 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 139057,1 million tenge, or 79,7% by January- March 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 27805 units and decreased by 2,7% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 27259 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 22783 units, including 22244 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 24204 units and decreased by 2% compared to the corresponding date in 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted to 6494054,5 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real GRP increased by 4,1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 50,6%, services – 46,4%.
The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102,3%.
Prices for food products increased by 2,6%, non-food products – by 2,5%, paid services for the population – by 1,9%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 8,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January- March 2026 amounted to 426507,9 million tenge, or 2,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January- March 2026 amounted to 552034,5 million tenge, or 2,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 416 million US dollars and increased by 8% compared to January-February 2025, including exports – 266,1 million US dollars (by 22,7% more), imports – 149,8 million US dollars (11% less).
