The population of the region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 1130,4 thousand people, including 934,9 thousand people
(82,7% ) – urban, 195,5 thousand people (17,3%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 928 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1456 people).
The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 6254 people (6,6% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 5326 people (1,7% more than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1904 people (in January-June 2025 – -2692 people), including in internal – -1900 people in internal migration (-2480), and – -4 people in external migration (-212).
The number of unemployed the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 22,1 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as on July 1, 2026 amounted to 24361 people, or 2,7% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wage accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activity) amounted to 439,100 tenge in the first guarter of 2026, representing a 10.1% increase compared to the first guarter of 2025.
The real wage index in the first guarter of 2026 was 94.3%
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 3211,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 4,8% more than in January- July 2025. In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 1,9%, in the manufacturing industry - by 6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air supply air there was by 4,7%. In water supply, sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 14,6%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to
165091,5 million tenge, or 103% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 21515,1 million tkm (аccounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 99,9% compared to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 2074,0 million pkm, or 112,8% by January- July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 273867,8 million tenge, or 80,2% by January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of commissioned housing decreased by 30,9% and amounted to 193,6 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment residential buildings the area decreased by 34,2% (161,4 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings – by 10,2% (31,3 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 538641,8 million tenge or 89,6% compared to January-July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 27935 units and decreased by 2,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 27388 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 22787 units, including 22247 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 24325 units and decreased by 2,3% compared to the corresponding date in 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 2340127,6 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real GRP increased by 4,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 54%, services – 42,9%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,4%, non-food products – by 5,9%, paid services for the population – by 5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 6,5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 981979,6 million tenge, or 1,3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 1606974 million tenge, or 0,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to
1439,5 million US dollars and increased by 3,5% compared to January-June 2025, including exports – 788,5 million US dollars (by 2,9% less), imports – 651 million US dollars (12,4% more).
