The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 1130,3 thousand people, including 935,3 thousand people (82,8% ) – urban, 195 thousand people (17,2%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 1104 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1863 people).
The number of births as January-July 2026 amounted to 7335 people (8,3% less than in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 6231 people (1,5% more than in January-July 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2144 people (in January-July 2025 – -3360 people), including in internal – -2068 people in internal migration (-3020), and – -76 people in external migration (-340).
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 3711540,6 million tenge in current prices, which is 4,7% more than in January-August 2025. In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 1,7%, in the manufacturing industry - by 5,9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air supply air there was by 3,7%. In water supply, sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 13,9%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-August 2026 amounted to 236575,4 million tenge, or 103,9% by January-August 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 24656,5 million tkm (аccounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,3% compared to January- August 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 2366,7 million pkm, or 111,7% by January- August 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 336854,2 million tenge, or 78,6% by January-August 2025.
In January-August 2026, the total area of commissioned housing decreased by 31,6% and amounted to 240,7 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment residential buildings the area decreased by 34,7% (199,8 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings – by 12,9% (40,1thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 657673,3 million tengeor 95% compared to January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 27976 units and decreased by 2,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 27429 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 22914 units, including 22374 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 24363 units and decreased by 2,2% compared to the corresponding date in 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 2340127,6 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real GRP increased by 4,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 54%, services – 42,9%.
The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,3%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,3%, non-food products – by 6,7%, paid services for the population – by 5,1%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 3,2%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 1189301,4 million tenge, or 0,3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 1882322,7 million tenge, or 0,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1703,2 million US dollars and increased by 2,3% compared to January-July 2025, including exports – 910,2 million US dollars (by 6,8% less), imports – 793 million US dollars (15,3% more).
