The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 1130,7 thousand people, including 934,6 thousand people
(82,7% ) – urban, 196,1 thousand people (17,3%) – rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 775 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1200 people).
The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 5128 people (7,7% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 4353 people (0,1% less than in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1395 people (in January-May 2025 – -2065 people), including in internal – -1493 people in internal migration (-2057), and – 98 people in external migration (-8).
The number of unemployed the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 22,1 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as on July 1, 2026 amounted to 24361 people, or 2,7% of the labor force.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 2726,2 million tenge in current prices, which is 5,2% more than in January-June 2025. In the mining and mine workings industry, production volumes increased by 2,8%, in the manufacturing industry - by 6,3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air supply air there was by 5,2%. In water supply, sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities decreased by 16,9%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 118443,1 million tenge, or 102,6% by January-June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 18442 million tkm (аccounting for the amount of work performed by individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 99.8% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1778.7 million pkm, or 114.2% by January- June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 216121,2 million tenge, or 82,4% by January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of commissioned housing decreased by 20,8% and amounted to 187 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment residential buildings the area decreased by 20,8% (161,4 thousand square meters), in individual residential buildings – by 23,4% (24,7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 433213,7 million tenge or 89,7% compared to January-June 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 27902 units and decreased by 2,9% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 27355 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 22780 units, including 22240 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 24291 units and decreased by 2,3% compared to the corresponding date in 2025.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 2340127,6 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, real GRP increased by 4,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 54%, services – 42,9%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,6%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,1%, non-food products – by 5,1%, paid services for the population – by 4,7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 6,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 822300,7 million tenge, or 2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 1338221,9 million tenge, or 0,7% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1154,9 million US dollars and increased by 0,5% compared to January-May 2025, including exports – 648,4 million US dollars (by 3,5% less), imports – 506,5 million US dollars (6,2% more).
