The population of the region as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 845.5 thousand people, including 399.9 thousand people (47%) - urban, 445.6 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-July 2026 amounted to 5674 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 7019 people).

The number of births as January-July 2026 amounted to 8437 people (13.5% less than in January-July 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 2763 people (1.0% less than in January-July 2025).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -6519 people (in January-July 2025 - -6448 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 19 people (19), in internal - negative - -6538 people (-6467).

The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 16.1 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4.5% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 15979 people, or 4.6% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 418672 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,0%.

The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 95.6%.

The volume of industrial production in January-August 2026 amounted to 760467 million tenge in current prices, which amounted to 106.4% compared to January-August 2025.

In the mining industry, production decreased by 7.7%, in the manufacturing industry by 13.1%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 91.1%, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities, an increase by 10.5% was noted.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January- August 2026 amounted to 89 951,4 million tenge, or 102,4% by January- August 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2026 amounted to 18065.2 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 110.0% of January-August 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic – 1734.3 million pkm, or 94.6% by January-August 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-August 2026 amounted to 223171 million tenge, or 126.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.

The total area of housing commissioned in January-August 2026 increased by 3.5% compareg to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 583.7 thousand square meters, of which increased by 4.5% (60.4 thousand square meters) in apartment residential buildings, of which increased by 4.0% (523.3 thousand square meters) in individual residential buildings.

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- August 2026 amounted to 496814 million tenge, or 106.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 11589 units, including 11231 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, there has been a decrease in registered legal entities by 0.5%. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10464 units , among which 10106 units were small enterprises. The number of registered small and medium–sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9045 units, and decrease by 0,01% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The gross regional product for the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 631.4 billion tenge at current prices. Compared with the I quarter of 2025, real GRP increased by 5.0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of goods production accounted for 33.9%, while services made up – 59.8%.

The consumer price index in August 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106.2%.

Prices for food products increased by 5.4%, non-food products – by 6%, paid services for the population – by 7.4%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 11.8%.

The volume of retail trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 401399.5 million tenge, or 2.6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2026 amounted to 253737,5 million tenge, or 4.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 162.5 million US dollars and compared to January-July 2025 increased by 2 times , including exports 136.0 million US dollars (3.1 times more), imports of 26.5 million US dollars (26.1% less).
