The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 844.5 thousand people, including 399.7 thousand people (47%) - urban, 444.8 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 6414 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 8062 people).
The number of births as January-August 2026 amounted to 9601 people (13.9% less than in January-August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 3187 people (3.0% more than in January-August 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -8200 people (in January-August 2025 - -8098 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 19 people (27), in internal - negative - -8219 people (-8125).
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 869 576 million tenge in current prices, which amounted to 107.2% compared to January-September 2025.
In the mining industry, production decreased by 7.8%, in the manufacturing industry by 12.4%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air 2.1 times, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities, an increase by 17.3% was noted.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January- October 2026 amounted to 176 639.0 million tenge, or 102.0% by January- October 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 20287.9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 109.4% of January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1958.7 million pkm, or 95.2% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) performed in January- September 2026 amounted to 289 689.8 million tenge, or 131.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
The total area of housing commissioned in January-September 2026 increased by 1.1 % compareg to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 684.7 thousand square meters, of decreased by 22.5% (62.7 thousand square meters) in apartment residential buildings, of which increased by 4.9% (622.0 thousand square meters) in individual residential buildings.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- September 2026 amounted to 581 044 million tenge, or 102.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 11609 units, including 11248 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, there has been a decrease in registered legal entities by 0.2%. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10514 units , among which 10153 units were small enterprises. The number of registered small and medium–sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9063 units, and increase by 0,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The gross regional product for the 1 half year of 2026 amounted to 1497,6 billion tenge at current prices. Compared with the 1 half year of 2025, real GRP increased by 4,0% In the structure of GRP, the share of goods production accounted for 42.9%, while services made up – 52.2%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106.8%.
Prices for food products increased by 5.9%, non-food products – by 7%, paid services for the population – by 7.7%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 14.7%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 466431.2 million tenge, or 2.7% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 295162.9 million tenge, or 5.0% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 174.2 million US dollars and compared to January-August 2025 increased by 38.0% , including exports 144.0 million US dollars (69.3% more), imports of 30.2 million US dollars (26.7% less).
