The population of the region as of May 1, 2025 amounted to 846.9 thousand people, including 399.1 thousand people (47%) - urban, 447.8 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-April 2025 amounted to 3918 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 4867 people).
The number of births as January-April 2025 amounted to 5397 people (15.2% less than in January-April 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 1479 people (1.4% less than in January-April 2024).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -3137 people (in January-April 2024 - -2907 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 15 people (-2), in internal - negative - -3152 people (-2905).
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2025 amounted to 426950 million tenge at current prices, which is 0.4% more than in January-May 2024.
In the mining industry, production decreased by 6.9%, in the manufacturing industry there was an increase of 18.2%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 6.2%, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities increased by 21.6%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May 2025 amounted to 24916.0.million tenge, or 102.3% by January-May 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2025 amounted to 14302.9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 105.4% compared to January-May 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic – 1040.1 million pkm, or 114.5% by January-May 2024.
The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-May 2025 amounted to 71213 million tenge, or 164.5% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In January-May 2025 the total area of commissioned housing increased by 4.6% compareg to the corresponging period last year and amounted to 247.3 thousand square meters, apartamenters, of these in buildings – 3.2 times (51.6 thousand square meters), and in individual residential buildings and dormitories decreased by 10.2% (192.6 thousand square meters) and 46.0% (3.1 thousand square meters), respectively.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2025 amounted to 229851 million tenge, or 127.1% by January-May 2024.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2025 amounted to 11652 units, including 11289 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared with the corresponding date of the previous year, there is an increase in registered legal entities by 9.9%. The number of active legal entities was 10352 units , including 9989 units of small businesses. The number of registered small and medium–sized businesses (legal entities) in the region was 9038 units and increased by 13.7% compared with the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for the January-December 2024 amounted to 2984.7 billion tenge in current prices. Compared with January-December 2023, real GRP increased by 6.2%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 43.2%, services – 51.9%.
The consumer price index in May 2025 compared to December 2024 was 105.2%.
Prices for food products increased by 6.1%, non-food products – by 4.1%, paid services for the population – by 5.1%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2025 compared to December 2024 decreased by 5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 193746.6 million tenge, or 103.7% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 119373.0 million tenge, or 106.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 39.2 million US dollars and compared to January-April 2024 increased by 1.1% , including exports 23.5 million US dollars (19.5 more), imports of 15.7 million US dollars (17.7% less).
