The population of the region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 846.5 thousand people, including 399.7 thousand people (47%) - urban, 446.8 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 1637 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1954 people).
The number of births as January-February 2026 amounted to 2346 people (12.8% less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 709 people (3.9% less than in January-February 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -1442 people (in January-February 2025 - -1626 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 9 people (7), in internal - negative - -1451 people (-1633).
The volume of industrial production in January-March 2026 amounted to 250205 million tenge in current prices, which amounted to 101.7% compared to January-March 2025.
In the mining industry, production decreased by 6.9%, in the manufacturing industry by 13.6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 8.2%, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities, an increase by 19.9% was noted.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 16644.7 million tenge, or 103.2% by January- March 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 6832.4 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 98.6% compared to January-March 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 619.5 million pkm, or 102.5% by January-March 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-March 2026 amounted to 46608 million tenge, or 122.0% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
The total area of housing commissioned in January-March 2026 increased by 2.2% compareg to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 159.4 thousand square meters, of which increased by 73.8% (44.5 thousand square meters) in apartment residential buildings , and decreased by 9.7% (114.9 thousand square meters) in individual residential buildings.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 142116 million tenge, or 108.2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 11636 units, including 11277 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, there has been a increase in registered legal entities by 0.3%. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10429 units , among which 10070 units were small enterprises. The number of registered small and medium–sized businesses (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9077 units, and increase by 1,0% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The gross regional product GRP for the first 9 months of 2025 amounted to 2236.5 billion tenge at current prices. Compared to the same period in 2024, real GRP increased by 2.6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of goods production accounted for 39.6%, while services made up – 55.6%.
The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102.5%.
Prices for food products increased by 3.0%, non-food products – by 2.4%, paid services for the population – by 2.0%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 4,1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 135039.9 million tenge, or 100.5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 73357.6 million tenge, or 103.0% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 17.1 million US dollars and compared to January-February 2025 decreased by 16,6% , including exports 11.9 million US dollars (4.3 less), imports of 5.2 million US dollars (35.4% less).
