The population of the region as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 846.4 thousand people, including 400.1 thousand people (47%) - urban, 446.3 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 4073 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 4837 people).

The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 5895 people (12.5% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1822 people (4.2% less than in January-May 2025).

The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -4034 people (in January-May 2025 - -4033 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 18 people (18), in internal - negative - -4052 people (-4051).

The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 15.6 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4.5% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 15578 people, or 4.4% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 385193 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 8,5%.

The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 97.2%.

The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 560728 million tenge in current prices, which amounted to 102.4% compared to January-June 2025.

In the mining industry, production decreased by 8.2%, in the manufacturing industry by13.8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 31.0%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities, an increase by 4.6% was noted.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January- June 2026 amounted to 34937.0 million tenge, or 103.9% by January- June 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 13131.1 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 8.7% compared to January-June 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic – 1262.0 million pkm, or 94.8% by January-June 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-June 2026 amounted to 157547 million tenge, or 131.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.

The total area of housing commissioned in January-June 2026 increased by 1.3% compareg to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 355.0 thousand square meters, and decreased by 15.6% (44.5 thousand square meters) in apartment residential buildings , of which increased by 5.4 % (310.5 thousand square meters) in individual residential buildings.

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 339066 million tenge, or 107.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 11626 units, including 11270 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, there has been an increase in registered legal entities by 0.1%. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10393 units , among which 10037 units were small enterprises. The number of registered small and medium–sized businesses (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9079 units, and increase by 0,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The gross regional product for the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 631.4 billion tenge at current prices. Compared with the I quarter of 2025, real GRP increased by 5.0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of goods production accounted for 33.9%, while services made up – 59.8%.

The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104.7%.

Prices for food products increased by 4.2%, non-food products – by 4.7%, paid services for the population – by 5.4%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 21.6%.

The volume of retail trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 276809.2 million tenge, or 1.8% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 171794.6 million tenge, or 3.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 45.4 million US dollars and compared to January-May 2025 decreased by 19.2% , including exports 27.9 million US dollars (6.6 less), imports of 17.5 million US dollars (33.5% less).
