The population of the region as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 846.3 thousand people, including 399.8 thousand people (47.2%) - urban, 446.5 thousand people (52.8%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-March 2026 amounted to 2445 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 2918 people).
The number of births as January-March 2026 amounted to 3553 people (11.1% less than in January-March 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1108 people (2.6% more than in January-March 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -2378 people (in January-March 2025 - -2339 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of 18 people (10), in internal - negative - -2396 people (-2349).
The volume of industrial production in January-Аpril 2026 amounted to 363411 million tenge in current prices, which amounted to 100.0% compared to January-April 2025.
In the mining industry, production decreased by 7.8%, in the manufacturing industry by 9.3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 15.2%, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities, an increase by 13.2% was noted.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-April 2026 amounted to 22 090.2 million tenge, or 103.3% by January- April 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-April 2026 amounted to 8364.8 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 91.2% compared to January-April 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic – 831.4 million pkm, or 101.7% by January-April 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-April 2026 amounted to 68886 million tenge, or 127.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
The total area of housing commissioned in January-April 2026 increased by 1.8% compareg to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 190.6 thousand square meters, of which increased by 73.8% (44.5 thousand square meters) in apartment residential buildings , and decreased by 7.9% (146.1 thousand square meters) in individual residential buildings.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-April 2026 amounted to 187232 million tenge, or 110.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The number of registered legal entities as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 11598 units, including 11240 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, there has been a decrease in registered legal entities by 0.3%. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 10381 units , among which 10023 units were small enterprises. The number of registered small and medium–sized businesses (legal entities) in the region amounted to 9046 units, and increase by 0,3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
According to preliminary data, the volume of gross regional product for 2025 amounted to 3071.8 billion tenge at current prices. Compared to 2024, real GRP increased by 2.9%. In the structure of GRP, the share of goods production accounted for 42,3%, while services made up – 53,4%.
The consumer price index in April 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103.6%.
Prices for food products increased by 3.5%, non-food products – by 3.2%, paid services for the population – by 4.1%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in April 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 19.5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 176250.2 million tenge, or 1.9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-April 2026 amounted to 101025.6 million tenge, or 103.5% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-March 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 25.0 million US dollars and compared to January-March 2025 decreased by 21.6% , including exports 16.8 million US dollars (11.3 less), imports of 8.2 million US dollars (36.7% less).
