The population of the region as of October 1, 2025 amounted to 845.9 thousand people, including 399.1 thousand people (47%) - urban, 446.8 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-September 2025 amounted to 9158 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 10723 people).
The number of births as January-September 2025 amounted to 12599 people (10.7% less than in January-September 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 3441 people (1.6% more than in January-September 2024).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to - -9383 people (in January-September 2024 - -7263 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 20 people (10), in internal - negative - -9403 people (-7273).
The volume of industrial production in January-October 2025 amounted to 874538 million tenge in current prices, which was 98.6% compared to January-October 2024.
In the mining industry, production decreased by 6.1%, in the manufacturing industry there was an increase of 10.7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned air decreased by 9.5%, in water supply; sanitation; waste 1collection, treatment and disposal, pollution control activities increased by 18.7 %.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-October 2025 amounted to 211 520.7 million tenge, or 101.9% by January- October 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-October 2025 amounted to 29397.0 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 105.1% compared to January-October 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic – 2276.0 million pkm, or 115.8% by January-October 2024.
The volume of construction works (services) performed in January-October 2025 amounted to 235353 million tenge, or 117.6% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In January-October 2025 the total area of commissioned housing increased by 10.0% compareg to the corresponging period last year and amounted to 766.7 thousand square meters, apartamenters of these in buildings – 2 times (94.1 thousand square meters), and in individual residential buildings and dormitories decreased by 5.9% (669.5 thousand square meters) and 46.0% (3.1 thousand square meters), respectively.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-October 2025 amounted to 602771 million tenge, or 116.0% by January-October 2024.
The number of registered legal entities as of November 1, 2025 amounted to 11631 units, including 11269 units with fewer than 100 employees. Compared with the corresponding date of the previous year, there is an increase in registered legal entities by 0.5%. The number of active legal entities was 10350 units , including 9988 units of small businesses. The number of registered small and medium–sized businesses (legal entities) in the region was 9029 units and increased by 1.2% compared with the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for the 1 half year of 2025 amounted to 1 393.2 billion tenge in current prices. Compared with the 1 half year of 2024, real GRP increased by 5.0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 40.8%, services – 53.9%.
The consumer price index in October 2025 compared to December 2024 was 110.1%.
Prices for food products increased by 12.2%, non-food products – by 9%, paid services for the population – by 8.4%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in October 2025 compared to December 2024 decreased by 0.1%.
The volume of retail trade in January-October 2025 amounted to 455460.0 million tenge, or 2.4% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-October 2025 amounted to 294526.3 million tenge, or 114.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January-September 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 134,9 million US dollars and compared to January-September 2024 decreased by 27,2% , including exports 91,2 million US dollars (32,7 less), imports of 43,7 million US dollars (12,5% less).
