The population in the city of Almaty as of August 1, 2024 amounted to 2264,5 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-July 2024 amounted to 13257 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 13271 people).
The number of births as January-July 2024 amounted to 20335 people (1,5% more than in January-July 2023), the number of deaths amounted to 7078 people (4,6% more than in January- July 2023).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 22567 people (in January-July 2023 – 22523 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 3067 people (2735), in internal – positive – 19500 people (19788).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 52,7 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,6% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 29257 people, or 2,6% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 480431 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2023 amounted to 14,3%.
The real wage index in IIquarter 2024 was 105,1%.
In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population, according to the estimate, amounted to 287213 tenge, which is 22,9% higher than in I quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 11,9%.
The volume of industrial production in January-August 2024 amounted to 1287289 million tenge in current prices, which is 6,5% less than in January- August 2023.
In the manufacturing industry production volumes decreased by 6,7%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air by 4,2% and in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 8,6%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-August 2024 amounted to 2129,5 million tenge, or 134,5% by January-August 2023.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2024 amounted to 14644,1 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 116,8% compared to January-August 2023.
The volume of passenger traffic –12668,7 million p-km, or 121,7% by January-August 2023.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 366632,7 million tenge, or 108,3% compared to January-August 2023.
In January- August 2024, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 3,8% and amounted to 1542,4 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings by 11,2% (1269,7 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put info operation decreased by 20,9% (272,7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2024 amounted to 970369,6 million tenge, or 108,7% by January-August 2023.
The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 152519 units and increased by 2,7% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 150811 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 115365 units, including 113773 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the city amounted to 142741 units and increased by 3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2024 amounted to 5321676 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, real GRP increased by 4,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 8%, services – 85,4%.
The consumer price index in August 2024 compared to December 2023 was 105,5%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,8%, non-food products – by 4,1%, paid services for the population – by 7,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 4,8%.
The volume of retail trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 4083722 million tenge, or 8% more than the corresponding period in 2023.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 9674038,4 million tenge, or 100,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
According to preliminary data, in January-July 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 3762 million US dollars and decreased by 14,8% compared to January-July 2023, including exports – 1050,3 million US dollars (by 31,2% less), imports – 2711,7 million US dollars(6,2% less).
