The population in the city of Almaty as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 2366,5 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-May 2026 amounted to 7218 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 7854 people).
The number of births as January-May 2026 amounted to 12018 people (7,2% less than in January-May 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 4800 people (5,7% less than in January-May 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 11204 people (in January-May 2025 – 15020 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 1481 people (1235), in internal – positive – 9723 people (13785).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 53,3 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 34707 people, or 2,9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 574162 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 10,7%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 99,5%.
The volume of industrial production in January-June 2026 amounted to 1342991,4 million tenge in current prices, which is 24,2% more than in January-June 2025.
The volume of in the manufacturing industry production volumes increased by 28,5% and in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities - by 9%, while in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air decreased by 0,2%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2026 amounted to 1958,7 million tenge, or 113% by January-June 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 31012,9 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,4% compared to January-June 2025.
The volume of passenger turnover in January-June 2026 amounted to 13672,4 million p-km, or 122,3% by January-June 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 436153,1 million tenge, or 122,5% compared to January-June 2025.
In January-June 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 4,6% and amounted to 1403,9 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 6,5% (1250,9 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 8,7% (152,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2026 amounted to 1021497,7 million tenge, or 104,6% byJanuary- June 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 164377 units and increased by 6,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 162665 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 121356 units, including 119718 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the city amounted to 155085 units and increased by 6,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 7542659,2 million tenge at current prices ( the share of the Republic of Kazakhstan 22,1%). Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, real GRP increased by 4,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 8,3%, services – 81,2%.
The consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,1%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,7%, non-food products – by 4,3%, paid services for the population – by 5,8%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 3%.
The volume of retail trade in January-June2026 amounted 3632775 million tenge, or 3,6% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2026 amounted to 8608948,5 million tenge, or 106,1% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-May 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 3422,5 million US dollars and increased by 2,3% compared to January- May 2025, including imports – 2502,2 million US dollars(increased by 6%), exports –920,3 million US dollars (decreased by 6,5% ).
