The population in the city of Almaty as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 2387,9 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 11873 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year –13308 people).
The number of births as January-August 2026 amounted to 19917 people (7,4% less than in January- August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 8044 people (1,8% less than in January-August 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 27920 people (in January-August 2025 – 27034 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 1546 people (1896), in internal – positive – 26374 people (25138).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 53,5 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of Oktober 1, 2026 amounted to 41639 people, or 3,4% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 610371 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2025 amounted to 10,2%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 100,8%.
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 19733737 million tenge in current prices, which is 22,2% more than in January-September 2025.
The volume of in the manufacturing industry production volumes increased by 26,2%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities by 4,7%, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air by 0,1%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 7177 million tenge, or 106,8% by January-September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 47138,6 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,5% compared to January-September 2025.
The volume of passenger turnover in January-September 2026 amounted to 22111,4 million p-km, or 123% by January-September 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 830985,4 million tenge, or 118,1% compared to January- September 2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 2,1% and amounted to 2030,9 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 2% (1772,5 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 4,2% (240,8 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-September 2026 amounted to 1686178,9 million tenge, or 103,1% by January-September 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 168275 units and increased by 7.1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 166565 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 125935 units, including 124298 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the city amounted to 158931 units and increased by 7,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted to 14419067,4 million tenge at current prices (the share of the Republic of Kazakhstan 20,2%). Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, real GRP increased by 3,1%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 8,4%, services – 80,5%.
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 106,6%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,3%, non-food products – by 7,7%, paid services for the population – by 8%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in September 2026 compared to December2025 increased by 3,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-September 2026 amounted 6574082,4 million tenge, or 4,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-September 2026 amounted to 14289529,9 million tenge, or 109,7% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 5515,6 million US dollars and increased by 0,7% compared to January-August 2025, including imports – 3959,3 million US dollars (increased by 2,3%), exports –1556,3 million US dollars (decreased by 3,2%).
