The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 2817 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 2958 people).

The number of births as January-February 2026 amounted to 4571 people (9,1% more less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1754 people (15,4% less than in January-February 2025).

The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 3816 people (in January-February 2025 – 5863 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 875 people (371), in internal – positive – 2941 people (5492).

The number of unemployed in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 53,5 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,5% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 33164 people, or 2,8% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the IV quarter of 2025 amounted to 601126 tenge, an increase compared to the IV quarter of 2024 amounted to 11,5%.

The real wage index in IV quarter 2025 was 100,1%.

In the ІV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population, according to the estimate, amounted to 410418 tenge, which is 7,6% higher than in ІV quarter 2024, the decline rate of real cash income for the specified period is - 3,4%.

The volume of industrial production in January-March 2026 amounted to 701819,2 million tenge in current prices, which is 31,1% more than in January-March 2025.

In the manufacturing industry production volumes increased by 36,1%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air - by 1,5%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities - by 15,3%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 1183,8 million tenge, or 101,4% by January-March 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 14706,8 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 95,6% compared to January-March 2025.

The volume of passenger turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 6361,5 million p-km, or 120.1% by January-March 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 140813,9 million tenge, or 122,7% compared to January-March 2025.

In January-March 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 7,2% and amounted to 754,2 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 8,8% (688,3 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 7% (66 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 373699,6 million tenge, or 102,3% by January- March 2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 160026 units and increased by 4,7% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 158273 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 119367 units, including 117689 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the city amounted to 150745 units and increased by 5,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted to 20429769,7 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, real GRP increased by 6.7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 6,5%, services – 83,6%.

The consumer price index in march 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102,6%.

Prices for food products increased by 3,1%, non-food products – by 2%, paid services for the population – by 2,5%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in March 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 2,6%.

The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 1627966,4 million tenge, or 2,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 4053568 million tenge, or 104,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 1239,2 million US dollars and increased by 4,8% compared to January-February 2025, including exports – 360,8 million US dollars (increased by 6,7% ), imports – 878,4 million US dollars (increased by 4,1%).
