The population in the city of Almaty as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 2373,8 thousand people.
The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 8736 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 9539 people).
The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 14613 people (6,6% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 5877 people (3,7% less than in January-June 2025).
The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 16933 people (in January-June 2025 – 18299 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of – 1443 people (1365), in internal – positive – 15490 people (16934).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 53,5 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 4,4% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 37037 people, or 3% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2026 amounted to 574162 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 10,7%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2026 was 99,5%.
The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 1542299,7 million tenge in current prices, which is 22,5% more than in January-July 2025.
The volume of in the manufacturing industry production volumes increased by 26,5% and in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities - by 6,8%, while in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air decreased by 0,3%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 2674,1 million tenge, or 121,2% by January-July 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 36291,2 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 99% compared to January-July 2025.
The volume of passenger turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 16637,9 million p-km, or 122,1% by January-July 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 560590,5 million tenge, or 123,3% compared to January-July 2025.
In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 4,3% and amounted to 1651,4 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings - by 4,7% (1449 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 7,5% (184,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 1239654,4 million tenge, or 104,6% byJanuary- July 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 166022 units and increased by 6,7% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 164306 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 122717 units, including 121075 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the city amounted to 156702 units and increased by 7,4% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-March 2026 amounted to 7542659,2 million tenge at current prices (the share of the Republic of Kazakhstan 22,1%). Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, real GRP increased by 4,6%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 8,3%, services – 81,2%.
The consumer price index in July 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,5%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,8%, non-food products – by 5%, paid services for the population – by 6,5%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in July 2026 compared to December 2025 increased by 3,9%.
The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted 4521620,6 million tenge, or 4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January- July 2026 amounted to 10499541,6 million tenge, or 111,3% compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 4157,1 million US dollars and increased by 2 % compared to January-June 2025, including imports – 3029,4 million US dollars (increased by 5,4%), exports –1127,8 million US dollars (decreased by 6,2%).
