The population of the region as of February 1, 2026 amounted to 820,8 thousand people, including 384,8 thousand people (46,9%) - urban, 436 thousand people (53,1%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January 2026 amounted to 1113 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 1185 people).
The number of births as January 2026 amounted to 1378 people (3,8% less than in January 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 265 people (6,8% less than in January 2025).
The balance of migration was positive and amounted to - -79 people (in January 2025 - -97 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 368 people (31), in internal - negative - -447 people and (-128).
The number of unemployed in the ІV quarter of 2025 amounted to 19,5 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 5% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 23280 people, or 5,9% of the labor force.
The volume of industrial production in February 2026 amounted to 544270 million tenge in current prices, which is 100% equal in February 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumesdecreased by 2,5%, in the manufacturing industry it increased by 0,5%,in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 22,6%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination increased by 2,7%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in February 2026 amounted to 5456,0 million tenge, or 109,2% by February 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-February 2026 amounted to 5533,8 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,2% compared to January-February 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic in January-February 2026 amounted to 977,3 million pkm, or 89% by January-February 2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 31486 million tenge, or 102% compared to January-February 2025.
In January-February 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 10,6% and amounted to 58,6 thousand square meters, ofwhich in multi-apartment buildings increased by 0,3% (27,9 thousand square meters). Atthe same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation increased by 22,1% (30,7 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-February 2026 amounted to 81560,1 million tenge, or 57,3% by January- February 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 18872 units and increased by 5,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 18479 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 16175 units, including 15783 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 16658 units and decreased by 6% compared to the corresponding date of the including year.
The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on changes in output indices for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, accounting for over 60% of GDP.
The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted toat current prices 4073560,4 million tenge Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 11,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 52,1%, services 38,1%.
The consumer price index in February 2026 compared to December 2025 was 102,4%.
Prices for food products increased by 2,5%, non-food products - by 2,3%, paid services for the population - by 2,3%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to February 2026 decreased by - 1,5%.
The volume of retail trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 58158,1 million tenge, or 1,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-February 2026 amounted to 80042,1 million tenge, or 2,1% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 12,8 million US dollars and decreased by 3,9% compared to January 2025, including exports - 0,7 million US dollars (16,8% less), imports - 12,1 million US dollars (5,4% more).
