Population size and migration

The population of the Mangystau region as of July 1, 2026 amounted to 824,8 thousand people, including 388,9 thousand people (47,1%) - urban, 435,9 thousand people (52,9%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-June 2026 amounted to 5980 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 6819 people).

The number of births as January-June 2026 amounted to 7708 people (8,9% less than in January-June 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1708 people (4,1% more than in January-June 2025).

The balance of migration was negative and amounted to - -917 people (in January-June 2025 - 924people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 1068 people (1632), in internal - negative balance - -1985 people and (-708).

Labor

The number of unemployed in the ІІ quarter of 2026 amounted to 19,8 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 5% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 23908 people, or 6% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 659801 tenge, an increase compared to the І quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,2%.

The real wage index in І quarter 2026 was 94,9%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production in January-July 2026 amounted to 2382971 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,3% more in January-July 2025.

In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 1,4%, in the manufacturing industry it increased by 33,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 8,5%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination increased by 11,7%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-July 2026 amounted to 21454,2 million tenge, or 102,5% by January-July 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-July 2026 amounted to 19032,3 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 100,9% compared to January-July 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic in January-July 2026 amounted to 3759,0 million pkm, or 95,4% by January-July 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 213010,5 million tenge, or 112,7% compared to January-July 2025.

In January-July 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 10,2% and amounted to 310,2 thousand square meters,ofwhichin multi-apartment buildings increased by 19,3% (209,8 thousand square meters). Atthe same time, the total area ofindividualresidential buildings put into operation decreased by 2,9% (100,4 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-July 2026 amounted to 615644,3 million tenge, or 4,5% by January-July 2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of August 1, 2026 amounted to 18662 units and increased by 0,5% decreased to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 18282 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 16265 units, including 15886 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 16465 units and decreased by 0,4%decreased to the corresponding date of the including year.

Economics

The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on changes in output indices for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, accounting for over 60% of GDP.

The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted toat current prices 5620541,6 million tenge Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 12,3%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 49,3%, services 41,1%.

The consumer price index in July l 2026 compared to December 2025 was 105,7%.

Prices for food products increased by 5,8%, non-food products - by5,1%, paid services for the population - by 6,1%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to July 2026 increased in prise by - 18,7%.

The volume of retail trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 272837,8 million tenge, or 1,4% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-July 2026 amounted to 351031,8 million tenge, or 4,5% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-June 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 95,3 million US dollars and decreased by 6,5% compared to January-June 2025, including exports - 4,4 million US dollars (58,5% less), imports -90,9 million US dollars (0,5% less).
