Population size and migration

The population of the Mangystau region as of May 1, 2025 amounted to 810,7 thousand people, including 375,2 thousand people (46,3%) - urban, 435,5 thousand people (53,7%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-April 2025 amounted to 4677 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 5397 people).

The number of births as January-April 2025 amounted to 5752 people (13,4% less than in January-April 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 1075 people (13,6% less than in January-April 2024).

The balance of migration is positive and amounted to - 879 people (in January-April 2024 - 803 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 1170 people (1218), in the internal - negative balance- -291 people (-415).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 19,7 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 5,1% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2025 amounted to 23159 people, or 6% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 621320 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 8,7%.

The real wage index in I quarter 2025 was 99,2%.

In the IV quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 264644 tenge, which is 6,4% lower than in III quarter 2023, the rate of decline in real cash income for the specified period is 14,4%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production in January-May 2025 amounted to 1341308 million tenge in current prices, which is 1,8% more in January- May 2024.

In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 0,8%, in the manufacturing industry it increased - by 7,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 6,9%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities - decreased by 1,8%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May 2025 amounted to 12042.2 million tenge, or 100.3% by January-May 2024.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2025 amounted to 14727,9 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 126,9% compared to January-May 2024.

The volume of passenger traffic - 2765,4 million pkm, or 137,6% by January-May 2024.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 108114 million tenge, or 196,2% compared to January-May 2024.

In January-May 2025, the total area of housing put into operation decreased by 8,1% and amounted to 136 thousand square meters, of which in multi-apartment buildings increase by 43,4% (67 thousand square meters). At the same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 39,9% (61thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2025 amounted to 404736 million tenge, or 133,5% by January-May 2024.

The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2025 amounted to 18654 units and increased by 10,6% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 18279 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 15613 units, including 15238 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 16434 units and decreased by 11,8% compared to the corresponding date of the including year.

Economics

The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on changes in output indices for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, accounting for over 60% of GDP.

The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2024 amounted toat current prices 5166881,1 million tenge Compared to the corresponding period of 2023, real GRP increased by 7,7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 47,7%, services 40,3%.

The consumer price index in May 2025 compared to December 2024 was 105%.

Prices for food products increased by 5,9%, non-food products - by 3,2%, paid services for the population - by 5,5%. The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2025 compared to December 2024 decreased by -13,3%.

The volume of retail trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 147367,2 million tenge, or 5,2% more than the corresponding period in 2024.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 180951,4 million tenge, or 6,8% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

According to preliminary data, in January-April 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 65 million US dollars and increased by 23,7% compared to January-April 2024, including exports - 5,3 million US dollars (12,8% less), imports -59,7 million US dollars(28,5% more).
