Population size and migration

The population of the Mangystau region as of March 1, 2026 amounted to 821,8 thousand people, including 385,5 thousand people (46,9%) - urban, 436,3 thousand people (53,1%) - rural residents.

The natural increase in the population in January-February 2026 amounted to 2115 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 2284 people).

The number of births as January-February 2026 amounted to 2676 people (4,9% less than in January-February 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 561 people (5,8% more than in January-February 2025).

The balance of migration was negative and amounted to - -143 people (in January-February 2025 - 99 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 548 people (397), in internal - negative balance - -691 people and (-298).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the ІV quarter of 2025 amounted to 19,5 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 5% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 21845 people, or 5,6% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the ІV quarter of 2025 amounted to 658762 tenge, an increase compared to the ІV quarter of 2024 amounted to 8,4%.

The real wage index in ІV quarter 2025 was 96,9%.

In the ІV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 285674 tenge, which is 6,7% higher than in ІV quarter 2024, the rate of decline in real cash income for the specified period is 4,6%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production in March 2026 amounted to 977966 million tenge in current prices, which is 2,2% more in March 2025.

In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 1,9%, in the manufacturing industry it increased by 18,8%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 21,8%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination decreased by 2,9%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-March 2026 amounted to 7281,6 million tenge, or 98,8% by January-March 2025.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-March 2026 amounted to 8309,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 98,8% compared to January-March 2025.

The volume of passenger traffic in January-March 2026 amounted to 1471,9 million pkm, or 89,8% by January-March 2025.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 68940 million tenge, or 123,1% compared to January-March 2025.

In January-March 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 7,9% and amounted to 121 thousand square meters, ofwhichin multi-apartment buildings increased by 17,4% (78,3 thousand square meters). Atthe same time, the total area of individual residentialbuildings put into operation increased by 14,6% (42,7 thousand square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-March 2026 amounted to 155137,8 million tenge, or 75,4% by January-March 2025.

The number of registered legal entities as of April 1, 2026 amounted to 18610 units and increased by 3,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 18219 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 16164 units, including 15774 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 16408 units and decreased by 3,7% compared to the corresponding date of the including year.

Economics

The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on changes in output indices for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, accounting for over 60% of GDP.

The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2025 amounted toat current prices 4073560,4 million tenge Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 11,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 52,1%, services 38,1%.

The consumer price index in March 2026 compared to December 2025 was 103,1%.

Prices for food products increased by 3,5%, non-food products - by 2,6%, paid services for the population - by 2,8%.

The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to March 2026 increased in prise by - 1,6%.

The volume of retail trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 93542 million tenge, or 1,3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-March 2026 amounted to 117699,5 million tenge, or 1,2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.

According to preliminary data, in January-February 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 26,4 million US dollars and decreased by 13,4% compared to January-February 2025, including exports - 1,7 million US dollars (1,2% less), imports -24,8 million US dollars (14,1% less).
