The population of the Mangystau region as of May 1, 2026 amounted to 823,6 thousand people, including 387 thousand people (47%) - urban, 436,6 thousand people (53%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-April 2026 amounted to 4094 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year - 4677 people).
The number of births as January-April 2026 amounted to 5234 people (9% less than in January-April 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1140 people (6% more than in January-April 2025).
The balance of migration was negative and amounted to - -249 people (in January-April 2025 - 879 people), including in external migration - a positive balance of - 1039 people (1170), in internal - negative balance - -1288 people and (-291).
The number of unemployed in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 20 thousand people.
The unemployment rate was 5% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 20636 people, or 5,2% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the І quarter of 2026 amounted to 659801 tenge, an increase compared to the І quarter of 2025 amounted to 6,2%.
The real wage index in І quarter 2026 was 94,9%.
In the ІV quarter of 2025 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 285674 tenge, which is 6,7% higher than in ІV quarter 2024, the rate of decline in real cash income for the specified period is 4,6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-Мау 2026 amounted to 1699263 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,7% more in January-Мау 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 2,8%, in the manufacturing industry it increased by 43,9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was increased by 15%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination increased by 10,5%.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-May 2026 amounted to 13195,9 million tenge, or 99,2% by January-May 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to 13545,5 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 96,1% compared to January-May 2025.
The volume of passenger traffic in January-May 2026 amounted to 2491,2 million pkm, or 90,1% by January-May2025.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 117403 million tenge, or 102,3% compared to January-May 2025.
In January-May 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 17,2% and amounted to 159 thousand square meters, of whichin multi-apartment buildings increased by 53,4% (102,3 thousand square meters). Atthe same time, the total area of individual residential buildings put into operation decreased by 6,5% (56,9 thousand square meters).
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2026 amounted to 334457 million tenge, or 78,1% by January-May 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as of June 1, 2026 amounted to 18676 units and increased by 0,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 18293 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 16246 units, including 15864 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 16480 units and decreased by 0,2% compared to the corresponding date of the including year.
The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on changes in output indices for basic sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communications, accounting for over 60% of GDP.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2025 amounted toat current prices 5620541,6 million tenge Compared to the corresponding period of 2024, real GRP increased by 12,3%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 49,3%, services 41,1%.
The consumer price index in May l 2026 compared to December 2025 was 104,6%.
Prices for food products increased by 4,9%, non-food products - by 3,8%, paid services for the population - by 4,7%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2025 compared to May 2026 increased in prise by - 32,4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 166365,7 million tenge, or 1,9% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2026 amounted to 205348,2 million tenge, or 3% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 60,1 million US dollars and decreased by 7,5% compared to January-April 2025, including exports - 3,5 million US dollars (33,8% less), imports -56,6 million US dollars (5,1% less).
