Population size and migration

Population of the Pavlodar region as of June 1, 2024 amounted to 753,5 thousand people, including 533,8 thousand people (70,8%) - urban residents, 219,7 thousand people (29,2%) - rural residents.

Natural population growth in January-May 2024 amounted to 794 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1301 people). For January-May 2024 the number of births was 3794 people (9,1% less than in January-May 2023), the number of deaths was 3000 people (4,5% more than in January-May 2023).

The migration balance is negative and amounted to -1245 people (in January-May 2023 -702 people), including in external migration a positive balance of 256 people (181), in internal migration a negative balance of -1501 people (-883).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 18,9 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of July 1, 2024 amounted to 12371 people, or 3,1% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2024 amounted to 352036 tenge, an increase compared to the I quarter of 2023 amounted to 15,9%.

The real wage index in I quarter 2024 was 106,2%.

In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 207646 tenge, which is 13,8% higher than in I quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 4,3%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production at current prices in January-June 2024 amounted to 1598391,5 million tenge, which is 2,5% more than in January-June 2023.

In the manufacturing industry, production volumes increased by 7,4%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning air there was – by 2,7%, in the мining and quarrying decreased by 9,7%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 19,9%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-June 2024 amounted to 84796,4 million tenge, or 104,7% by January - June 2023.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-June 2024 amounted to 14405,3 million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 105,2% compared to January-June 2023.

The volume of passenger traffic – 961,8 million pkm, or 113,2% by January-June 2023.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 118024,7 million tenge, or 111,9% January-June 2023.

In January-June 2024, the total area of commission housing increased by 19,4% and amounted to 162174 square meters, of which in apartment buildings increased by – 30,6% (81167 square meters). The total area of commissioned individual residential buildings increased by 12,5% (79099 square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-June 2024 amounted to 395219,3 million tenge, or 114,8% by January-June 2023.

The number of registered legal entities as of July 1, 2024 amounted to 17289 units and decreased by 2,8% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 16932 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 14306 units, including 13949 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 14650 units and decreased by 3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

Economics

The volume of gross regional product for January-Mart 2024 amounted to 980252,5 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-Mart 2023, real GRP increased by 6,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 53,2%, services – 40,2%.

The consumer price index in June 2024 compared to December 2023 was 104,9%.

Prices for food products increased by 2,7%, non-food products – by 3,3%, paid services for the population – by 10%.                The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in June 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 7,3%.

The volume of retail trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 280471,4 million tenge, or 3,6% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-June 2024 amounted to 317934,9 million tenge, or 1,8% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

According to preliminary data, in January-May 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 696,6 million US dollarsand decreased by 5,5% compared to January-May 2023, including exports – 365 million US dollars (by 5,2% compared), imports – 331,6 million US dollars (5,9% compared).
