Population size and migration

Population of the Pavlodar region as of December 1, 2024 amounted to 751,7 thousand people, including 534,5 thousand people (71,1%) – urban residents, 217,2 thousand people (28,9%) – rural residents.

 Natural population growth in January-November 2024 amounted to 1842 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 2839 people).

For January-November 2024 the number of births was 8441 people (7,1% less than in January-November 2023), the number of deaths was 6599 people (5,7% more than in January-November 2023).

The migration balance is negative and amounted to - 4120 people (in January-November 2023 - 3414 people), including in external migration a positive balance of 309 people (negative -349), in internal migration a negative balance of - 4429 people
(-3065).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the III quarter of 2024 amounted to 19,2  thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,7% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of January 1, 2025 amounted to 7024 people, or 1,7% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the III quarter of 2024 amounted to 361065 tenge, an increase compared to the III quarter of 2023 amounted to 12,8%.

The real wage index in III quarter 2024 was 103,1%.

In the III quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 223731 tenge, which is 9,5% higher than in III quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 100,1%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production at current prices in January-December 2024 amounted to 3440836,2 million tenge, which is 4,9% more than in January-December 2023.

In the manufacturing industry, production volumes increased by 9,5%, in the мining and quarrying decreased by 1,3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning air there was – by 4,6%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 7,3%.

The volume of gross output of of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January- December 2024 amounted to 453420,5 million tenge, or 126,1% by January - December 2023.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-December 2024 amounted to 32784,4  million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 117,4% compared to January- December 2023.

The volume of passenger traffic – 2015,1 million pkm, or 114,9% by January- December 2023.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 387370,6 million tenge, or 113,1% by 2023.

In January- December 2024, the total area of commission housing increased by 14,7% and amounted to 566312 square meters, of which in apartment buildings increased by – 21,8% (311121 square meters). The total area of commissioned individual residential increased by 12,1% (247937 square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-December 2024 amounted to 1113909 million tenge, or 138,3% by 2023.

The number of registered legal entities as of January1, 2025 amounted to 17151 units and decreased by 3% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 16795 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 14349 units, including 13993 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 14547 units and decreased by 3,1% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

Economics

The volume of gross regional product for January-September 2024 amounted to 3026319,9 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- September 2023, real GRP increased by 5,5%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 55%, services –38,3%.

The consumer price index in December 2024 compared to December 2023 was 107,7%.

Prices for food products increased by 4,9%, non-food products – by 5,3%, paid services for the population – by 14,5%.                The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in December 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 15,5%.

The volume of retail trade in January-December 2024 amounted to 718570,4 million tenge, or 12,1% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-December 2024 amounted to 950841,5 million tenge, or 24,1% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

According to preliminary data, in January-November 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to
1524,4 million US dollars and increased by 1% compared to January-November 2023, including exports – 806 million US dollars (by 7,1% more), imports – 718,4 million US dollars (5,1% less).
