Summary of the socio-economic development of the region
Population

The population of the region as of November 1, 2023 amounted to 754626 people, including 533369 people (70,7%) urban residents, and 221257 people (29,3%) rural residents.

Natural population growth in January-October 2023 amounted to 2612 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year 2626 people). For January-October 2023 there were 7,4% fewer newborns registered than in January-October 2022, and 10,2% fewer deaths.

The migration balance is negative and amounted to -2930 people (in January-October 2022 – -4305 people), including -297 in external migration (-1915 people), in internal migration – -2633 people (-2390 people).

Living standards statistics

The average per capita nominal cash income of the population in the II quarter of 2023, according to estimates, amounted to 194898 tenge (preliminary data), which is 14% higher than in the II  quarter of 2022, real cash income decreased by 2%.

Labor market and remuneration

The number of unemployed in the III quarter of 2023 according to a sample survey of the population on issues employment amounted to 19,3 thousand people, the unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force. The number of persons registered with employment authorities as unemployed at the end of October 2023 amounted to 9354 people, or 2,3% of the workforce.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the III quarter of 2023 amounted to 320041 tenge or 120,2% of the corresponding period in 2022. The real wage index was 107%.

Price statistics

Consumer price index in November 2023 compared to December 2022 amounted to 109%, for food products – 106,8%, non-food products – 107,9%, and paid services – 114%

.Prices of manufacturing enterprises of industrial products in November 2023 compared to December 2022 decreased by 3,3%.

Real sector of the economy

The volume of gross regional product (GRP) for January-June 2023 was at current prices 1736022,3 million tenge. Compared to the corresponding period in 2022 real GRP increased by 3%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 52,8%, services – 38,7%. The main share in the production of GRP is occupied by industry – 44,8%.

The volume of industrial production in January-October 2023 amounted to 2525,3 billion tenge, which is 0,3% more than in the corresponding period of 2022. In the mining industry and quarrying, the volume of production increased by 2,1%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning – by 1,4%, and in the manufacturing industry decreased  by 0,3%, in water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of  pollution – by 0,2%.

The volume of construction work in January-Oktober2023 amounted to 231,1 billion tenge, the volume index – 117,5%.

The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in January-Oktober 2023 made up 376,5 billion tenge, the index of physical volume amounted to 89,8%.

Physical volume index for the industry "Transport" (transport and warehousing) in January-October 2023 amountedto 129,1%.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-October 2023 amounted to 23,2 billion t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) or 128,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2022. The volume of passenger turnover amounted to 1477,5 million p-km or 96,6% compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

The volume of investments in fixed assets in January-October 2023 amounted to 730,1 billion tenge, which is 28,2% morecompared to the corresponding period in 2022.

Enterprise statistics

Number of registered legal entities as of November 1, 2023 amounted to 17891 units and increased by 1,6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, including 17535 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 14644 units, among which small enterprises (less than 100 people) make up 14288 units. The number of registered small and medium-sized enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 15195 units and increased by 1,8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Trade

Retail trade volume in January-October 2023 amounted to 483,3 billion tenge, or 3,3% more than the corresponding period in 2022.Wholesale trade volume in January-October 2023 amounted to 588,5 billion tenge, or 101,9% compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

According to preliminary data in January- September 2023, the volume of mutual trade between the Pavlodar region and the EAEU countries amounted to 1193,2 million US dollars, which is 11,5% less than in the same period in 2022, including imports – 586,1 million US dollars (6 less by %), export – 607,1 million US dollars (less by 16,2%).
