Population size and migration

Population of the Pavlodar region as of August 1, 2024 amounted to 753,1 thousand people, including 534,2 thousand people (70,9%) - urban residents, 218,9 thousand people (29,1%) - rural residents.

 Natural population growth in January-Jule 2024 amounted to 1219 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1826 people). For January-Jule 2024 the number of births was 5424 people (6,5% less than in January-Jule 2023), the number of deaths was 4205 people (5,8% more than in January-Jule 2023).

The migration balance is negative and amounted to -2023 people (in January-Jule 2023 -1431 people), including in external migration a positive balance of 233 people (negative -37), in internal migration a negative balance of -2256 people (-1394).

Labor and income

The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 19,3 thousand people.

The unemployment rate was 4,8% of the labor force.

The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 12431 people, or  3,1% of the labor force.

The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the II quarter of 2024 amounted to 366922 tenge, an increase compared to the II quarter of 2023 amounted to 12,9%.

The real wage index in II quarter 2024 was 103,6%.

In the I quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 207646 tenge, which is 13,8% higher than in I quarter 2023, the growth rate of real cash income for the specified period is 4,3%.

Industry statistics

The volume of industrial production at current prices in January-August 2024 amounted to 2193670,7 million tenge, which is 4,8% more than in January- August 2023.

In the manufacturing industry, production volumes increased by 9,3%, in the мining and quarrying decreased by 2,6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning air there was – by 2,2%, in water supply; sanitation; waste collection, treatment and disposal, pollution elimination activities – by 10,6%.

The volume of gross output of of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January- August 2024 amounted to 154389,1 million tenge, or 106% by January - August 2023.

The volume of cargo turnover in January-August 2024 amounted to 20301,9  million tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 110,2% compared to January-August 2023.

The volume of passenger traffic – 1352,2 million pkm, or 115,4% by January-August 2023.

The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 168431,4 million tenge, or 113,4% January- August 2023.

In January- August 2024, the total area of commission housing increased by 16,5% and amounted to 203976 square meters, of which in apartment buildings increased by – 31,5% (94288 square meters). The total area of commissioned individual residential buildings increased by 7,7% (107720 square meters).

The volume of investments in fixed capital in January- August  2024 amounted to 590937,6 million tenge, or 127,1% by January- August 2023.

The number of registered legal entities as of September 1, 2024 amounted to 17292 units and decreased by 3,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, including 16940 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 14344 units, including 13992 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 14669 units and decreased by 3,2% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.

Economics

The volume of gross regional product for January-Mart 2024 amounted to 980252,5 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-Mart 2023, real GRP increased by 6,4%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 53,2%, services – 40,2%.

The consumer price index in August 2024 compared to December 2023 was 105,9%.

Prices for food products increased by 3,7%, non-food products – by 4%, paid services for the population – by 11,1%.                The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in August 2024 compared to December 2023 increased by 10,4%.

The volume of retail trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 418268,6 million tenge, or 7,8% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

The volume of wholesale trade in January-August 2024 amounted to 491392 million tenge, or 12,1% more than the corresponding period in 2023.

According to preliminary data, in January-Jule 2024, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 976,6 million US dollars and increased by 5,7% compared to January-Jule 2023, including exports – 513,1 million US dollars (by 7,1% more), imports – 463,5 million US dollars (4,2% more).
