Summary of the socio-economic development of the region

The population of the region as of November 1. 2023 amounted to 1527,0 thousand people, including 246.7 thousand people (16.2%) - urban, 1280.3 thousand people (83.8%) - rural residents.

Natural population growth in January -October 2023 amounted to 20470 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year 21155 people). In January-October 2023 , 3.2% fewer newborns were registered than in January-October 2022 , and - 3.2% fewer deaths.

The balance of migration is positive and amounted to 676 people (in January-October 2022 – 155 people), including 979 (714) in external migration, -303 people (-559 people) in internal migration.

Living standards statistics

In the II quarter of 2023, the average per capita nominal cash income of the population amounted to 130 081 tenge, which is 116.2% higher than in the II quarter of 2022, real cash income for the specified period increased by 1.4%.

Labor market and wages

The number of unemployed according to the results of the employment survey for the III quarter of 2023 amounted to 34,4 thousand people. The unemployment rate was 4.7% of the economically active population. The number of persons registered with the employment authorities as unemployed at the end of October 2023 amounted to 22,5 thousand people, or 3,0% of the economically active population.

The average monthly nominal salary , according to the assessment in the III quarter of 2023, amounted to 272694 tenge. Growth compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022 amounted to 8.5% . Real wages decreased by 3.0% compared to the same quarter last year.

Price statistics

The consumer price index in January- November 2023 compared to January- November 2022 amounted to 113.5%. Prices for food products increased by 15.2%, non-food products - by 12,5%, paid services to the population - by 12,1%.

National economy

Volume of gross regional product for January-June 2023 of the yearamounted to 1909.0 billion tenge. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 45,1% , services – 54,9% .

The volume of investments in fixed assets in January- October 2023 amounted to 519,2 billion tenge (with additional valuftion), which is 11,0% more than in January- October 2022.

As of November 1, 2023, 19 792 economic entities (legal entities) were registered, of which 16 580 are active . Among registered legal entities, small legal entities (with up to 100 employees) 19 305, medium-sized legal entities (with 101 to 250 employees) 410, large legal entities (over 250 employees) 77, of which 16 095 are active, respectively, 408 and  77 units.

Real sector of the economy

The volume of industrial production in January- October  2023 amounted to 1 442,1 billion tenge, which was 107,7% compared to January- October 2022 . In the mining and quarrying industry, the volume index was 109,2% compared to 2022 , in the manufacturing industry, the volume index was 107,6% supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning 108,9%, Water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution 104,7%.

The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January- October 2023 amounted to 725,6 billion tenge, which amounted to 99,6% by January- October 2022, including livestock 368,8  billion tenge , respectively 102,9%, crop production 355,4 billion tenge – 96,9%, agricultural services 1331,5 million tenge 100 %.

The volume of construction works (services) in January- October 2023 amounted to 220,7 billion tenge, which is 0,5% more than in  January- October  2022.

The index of physical volume for the industry "Transport" (transport and warehousing) in January- October  2023 amounted to 98,0%.

The volume of cargo turnover in January- October  2023 amounted to 17,0 billion tkm (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation) amounted to 96,4% compared to January- October 2022. Passenger turnover amounted to 0,8 billion pkm and increased by  8,9%.

The number of operating small and medium-sized businesses as 1 November, 2023 amounted to 136 433 unitsor 123,2%  compared to the corresponding period of 2022 .


Index of physical volume by branches of January-October 2023 amounted to 101.1%.

The volume of retail trade for January-October 2023 amonted to 493.1 billion tenge or 108.3% by January-September 2022 (at comparable prices).

Volume of wholesale for January-October 2023 amonted to 656.2 billion tenge or 96.3% by January-October 2022 (at comparable prices).
