The population of the region as of September 1, 2026 amounted to 217.3 thousand people, including 173.1 thousand people (79.7%) - urban, 44.2 thousand people (20.3%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-August 2026 amounted to 915 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 1150 people).
The number of births as January- August 2026 amounted to 2099 people (11.3% less than in January- August 2025), the number of deaths amounted to 1184 people (2.6% less than in January- August 2025).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -2690 people (in January- August 2025 – -2695 people), including in external migration– -16 people (-39), in internal – -2674 people (-2656).
The number of unemployed in the II quarter of 2026 amounted to 3595 people.
The unemployment rate was 3.9% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of October 1, 2026 amounted to 2578 people, or 2.9% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the ІI quarter of 2026 amounted to588 691tenge, an increase compared to the IIquarter of 2025 amounted to 5.6%.
The real wage index in II quarter 2026 was 93.4%.
The volume of industrial production in January-September 2026 amounted to 1 663 022 million tenge in current prices, which is 7.6% more than in January-September 2025.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 10.4%, in the manufacturing industry -increased by 2.3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was by 15.1%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities -volumes increased by 38.1%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products (services) in January-September 2026 amounted to 54 592.5 million tenge, or 1.5% more then in January-September 2025.
The volume of cargo turnover in January- September 2026 amounted to 9 785,5 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 103.6% compared to January- September 2026.
The volume of passenger traffic – 592.8 million p-km, or 84.8% by January- September 2026.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 265 434 million tenge, or 243.6% compared to January-September2025.
In January-September 2026, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 9.9% and amounted to 70.5 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-August 2026 amounted to 270 536 million tenge, or 193.7% by January-August 2025.
The number of registered legal entities as October 1, 2026 amounted to 2923 units and decreased by 1.6%, the corresponding period last year, including 2831 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 2645 units, including 2553 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 2008 units and decreased by 0.4% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-June 2026 amounted 1 221 519.1 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January- June 2025, real GRP increased by 21.0%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 67.2%, services – 30.9%
The consumer price index in September 2026 compared to December 2025 was 107.3%.
In September 2026 compared to December 2025 was prices for food products increased by– 6.2%, non-food products – by 6.2%, paid services forthe population – by 10.6%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products inSeptember 2026 compared to December 2025 increased 3.8%.
The volume of retail trade January- September 2026 amounted to 100 137,8 million tenge, or 0.2% more than the corresponding period in 2025.
The volume of wholesale trade in January- September 2026 amounted 99 447,2 million tenge, or 100%comparedto the corresponding period in 2025.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2026, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 31.8 million US dollars and decreased to 13.8% compared to January- August 2025, including exports – 3.2 million US dollars (by 53.6% less), imports –28.6 million US dollars (4.8% less).
