The population of the region as of May 1, 2025 amounted to 220.7 thousand people, including 175.3 thousand people (79.4%) - urban, 45.3 thousand people (20.6%) - rural residents.
The natural increase in the population in January-April 2025 amounted to 550 people (in the corresponding period of the previous year – 805 people).
The number of births as January- April 2025 amounted to 1165 people (17.6% less than in January-- April 2024), the number of deaths amounted to 615 people (1.2% more than in January- April 2024).
The balance of migration is negative and amounted to -1170 people (in January- April 2024 – -800 people), including in external migration – -16 people (-5), in internal – -1154 people (-795).
The number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 4013 people.
The unemployment rate was 4.1% of the labor force.
The number of persons registered with employment agencies as unemployed as of June 1, 2025 amounted to 2640 people, or 2.7% of the labor force.
The average monthly nominal wages accrued to employees (excluding small enterprises engaged in entrepreneurial activities) in the I quarter of 2025 amounted to 599 046 tenge, an increase compared to the III quarter of 2024 amounted to 19.4%.
The real wage index in I quarter 2025 was 109.1%.
In the IV quarter of 2024 the average per capita nominal cash income of the population of the region, according to the estimate, amounted to 320 045 tenge, which is 8.9% higher than in IV quarter 2023, rate of increase real cash income for the specified period is 1.6%.
The volume of industrial production in January-May 2025 amounted to 563 944.2 million tenge in current prices, which is 3,8% less than in January-May 2024.
In the mining industry, production volumes decreased by 5.5%, in the manufacturing industry - decreased by 2.1 %, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air there was by 8.7%, in water supply, collection, processing and waste disposal, pollution elimination activities -volumes increased by 3.7%.
The volume of gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products ( services) in January-May 2025 amounted to 17 318.1 million tenge, or 1,3% by January-May 2024.
The volume of cargo turnover in January-May 2025 amounted to 5 738.6 million t-km (taking into account the assessment of the volume of cargo turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 98.3% compared to January-May 2024.
The volume of passenger traffic – 364.3 million pkm, or 85.9% by January-May 2024.
The volume of construction works (services) amounted to 25 571 million tenge, or 78.4% compared to January-May 2024.
In January-May 2025, the total area of housing put into operation increased by 15.5% and amounted to 22.6 thousand square meters.
The volume of investments in fixed capital in January-May 2025 amounted to 48 150.4 million tenge, or 76.3 % by January- May 2024.
The number of registered legal entities as June 1, 2025 amounted to 2949 units and decrease 0.7% the corresponding period last year, including 2859 units with less than 100 employees. The number of operating legal entities amounted to 2570 units, including 2481 units - small businesses. The number of registered small and medium enterprises (legal entities) in the region amounted to 1992 units and decreased by 0.5% compared to the corresponding date of the previous year.
The volume of gross regional product for January-December 2024 amounted 2 399314.2 million tenge at current prices. Compared to the corresponding period of January-December 2023, real GRP increased by 7.7%. In the structure of GRP, the share of production of goods amounted to 70.7%, services – 22.6%
The consumer price index in May 2025 compared to December 2024 was 105.9%.
Prices for food products increased by 8.6%, non-food products – by 3.8%, paid services for the population – by 4.8%.
The prices of enterprises producing industrial products in May 2025 compared to December 2024 increased 2.4%.
The volume of retail trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 43 819.2 million tenge, or 2.8% more than the corresponding period in 2024.
The volume of wholesale trade in January-May 2025 amounted to 42 507 million tenge, or 7.7% more than amounted to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to preliminary data, in January-April 2025, mutual trade with the EAEU countries amounted to 15.8 million US dollars and decreased to 36.1% compared to January- April 2024, including exports – 2.6 million US dollars (by 59.6% less), imports –13.2 million US dollars (27.8 less).
