    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-April 2026 to January- April 2025 amounted to 104,2%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-April 2026 compared to January-April 2025, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of construction (114,5%), transportation and storage (112%) and trade (105,1%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (101,9%) agriculture (103,6%) and communication (103,8%).

    In January-April 2026 compared to January-April 2025, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI.

    The highest rates are observed in Turkistan region (125,2%), Ulytau region (120,4%) and Soltustik Кazakhstan region (120,3%). Negative growth rates have developed in Аtyrau region (88,2%), Batys Kazakhstan region (91,6%), Akmola region (94,7%) and Shygys Kazakhstan region (97,8%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
