    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-March 2026 to January- March 2025 amounted to 102,5%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-March 2026 compared to January-March 2025, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of construction (114,8%), transportation and storage (112,8%) and trade (104,8%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (99,3%) agriculture (103,4%) and communication (103,9%).

    In January-March 2026 compared to January-March 2025, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI.

    The highest rates are observed in Soltustik Кazakhstan region (125%), Turkistan region (119,4%) and Zhambyl region (118,4%). Negative growth rates have developed in Аtyrau region (82,2%), Batys Kazakhstan region (88,5%), Akmola region (91,9%) and Shygys Kazakhstan region (93%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
