    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January 2026 to January 2025 amounted to 97,2%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January 2026 compared to January 2025, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of construction (114,4%), communication (107,9%) and transportation and storage (105,1%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (93,4%) agriculture (102,6%) and trade (102,9%).

    In January 2026 compared to January 2025, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI.

    The highest rates are observed in Turkistan region (120,2%), Zhetisu region (114,2%) and Soltustik Кazakhstan region (113,1%). Negative growth rates have developed in Аtyrau region (66,8%), Batys Kazakhstan region (79,9%), Akmola region (90%) and Shygys Kazakhstan region (98,4%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
