    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-June 2025 to January-June 2024 amounted to 109%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-June 2025 compared to January-June 2024, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of transportation and storage (122,7%), construction (118,4%), trade (108,4%) and industry (106,5%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of communication (103,1%) and agriculture (103,7%).

    In January-June 2025 compared to January-June 2024, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. The highest growth rates are seen in Turkistan region (118%), Astana city (117,6%), Shymkent city (115,7%) and Zhetisu region (114,9%). The negative growth rate was observed in Shygys Kazakhstan region (95,1%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
