    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-April 2025 to January-April 2024 amounted to 108,5%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January- April 2025 compared to January- April 2024, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of transportation and storage (122,4%), construction (116,2%), trade (107%) and industry (106,6%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of communication (102,6%) and agriculture (103,9%).

    In January-April 2025 compared to January-April 2024, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. The highest growth rates are seen in Astana city (122,5%), Turkistan region (119,4%), Shymkent city (119,4%) and Zhetisu region (116,2%). Negative growth rates have developed in Shygys Kazakhstan region (94,8%) and Ulytau region (96,8%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, andcommunication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
