    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January 2025 to January 2024 amounted to 104,5%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January 2025 compared to January 2024, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of transportation and storage (119,0%), construction (112,7%), trade (103,9%) and agriculture (103,8%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of communication (99,5%) and industry (102,3%).

    In January 2025 compared to January 2024, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. The highest growth rates are seen in Astana city (125,4%), Shymkent city (121,0%) and Zhambyl region (114,1%).

    Negative growth rates have developed in Shygys Kazakhstan (87,3%), Atyrau (96,6%), Коstanay (98,0%) and Аktobе (98,7%) regions.

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, andcommunication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
