    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-September 2024 to January-September 2023 amounted to 105,3%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-September 2024 compared to January-September 2023, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of agriculture (111,4%), construction (110,1%) and transportation and storage(108,0%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (103,1%), trade (106,3%)and communication (106,4%).

    In January-September 2024 compared to January-September 2023, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. Negative growth rates were observed in Atyrau region (95,0%). The highest growth rates are seen in Zhetisu (114,4%), Ulytau (114,4%) and Karagandy regions (113,1%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, andcommunication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
