    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-August 2024 to January-August 2023 amounted to 104,4%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-August 2024 compared to January-August 2023, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of construction (108,8%), transportation and storage (107,9%) and communication (107,4%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (103,0%), agriculture (103,7%)and trade (105,5%).

    In January-August 2024 compared to January-August 2023, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. Negative growth rates were observed in Atyrau (94,8%), Kostanay (99,2%) and Batys Kazakhstan (99,8%) regions. The highest growth rates are seen in Zhetisu region (112,4%), Karagandy region (112,2%)and in city Shymkent(112,1%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, andcommunication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
