    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January- June 2024 to January-June 2023 amounted to 103,9%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-June 2024 compared to January-June 2023, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of communication (108,7%), construction (108,6%) and transportation and storage (107,3%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of industry (102,8%), agriculture (103,4%) and trade (103,9%).

    In January-June 2024 compared to January-June 2023, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. Negative growthates were observed in Atyrau (95,4%), Kostanay (99,2%) regions. The highest growth rates are seen in Karagandy region (112,5%), Astana city (112,0%) and in Aktobe region (110,8%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, and communication, which constitute over 60% of GDP.
