    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-April 2024 to January-April 2023 amounted to 103,9%
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-April 2024 compared to January-April 2023, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of construction (112,2%), communication (108,7%), and transportation and storage (107,8%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of agriculture (101,7%), trade (102,3%)and industry (103,2%).

    In January-April 2024 compared to January-April 2023, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. Negative growth rates were observed in Atyrau (96,9%), Mangystau (98,8%)and in Zhambyl (99,4%) regions. The highest growth rates are seen in Aktobe (113,5%)region, cityAstana (110,9%)and in Zhetisu (110,3%)region.

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, and communication, which constitute over 60% of GDP.
