    The Short-Term Economic Indicator (STEI) for January-February 2025 to January-February 2024 amounted to 107,3%.
    STEI by types of economic activity and regional breakdown

    In January-February 2025 compared to January-February 2024, the highest growth rates of physical volume indices are observed in the sectors of transportation and storage (121,3%), construction (112,8%), trade (106,0%) and industry (105,7%).

    The lowest growth in physical volume indices occurred in the sectors of communication (100%) and agriculture (103,2%).

    In January-February 2025 compared to January-February 2024, most regions showed positive growth rates in STEI. The highest growth rates are seen in Astana city (123,5%), Zhetisu region (118,9%), Shymkent city (115,7%) and Almaty region (115,3%). Negative growth rates have developed in Shygys Kazakhstan region (94,8%).

    Methodological explanations

    The calculation of the short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure timeliness and is based on changes in production indices in key sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport, andcommunication which constitute over 60% of GDP.
