Definition of the Indicator
The indicator shows temporary trends in the proportion of important sites for the biodiversity of mountainous areas (that is, those that significantly contribute to the global conservation of biodiversity) that are fully covered by certain protected areas.
Methodology for Calculation
The value of the indicator at a given time, based on data on the year of creation of the protected area, recorded in the World Database on Protected Areas, is then calculated by dividing the total number of Key Biodiversity Areas (CBZ) fully covered by protected areas by the total number of CBZ in each country and multiplying by 100.
