THE OPEN DATA INVENTORY – ODIN

The Open Data Inventory (ODIN) assesses the coverage and openness of official statistics to identify gaps, promote open data policies, improve access, and encourage dialogue between national statistical offices (NSOs) and data users.

Data assessed in ODIN must be official data for the country, published on the website of the national statistical office (NSO) or on any other official website of the country linked to the NSO's website.

The 2024 ODIN ranking covers 198 countries, with Kazakhstan ranked 44th with an overall score of 72. The overall score is a combination of a data coverage score of 74 and a data openness score of 70.

Compared to the 2022 rating, Kazakhstan has improved its position (2022 - 51st place out of 195 countries, overall score 63 points), thanks to the work carried out with recommendations from ODIN experts.

The indicators for both components have improved - "Coverage" (from 50 to 74) and "Openness" (from 55 to 70) out of a possible 100 points. A particularly high result was achieved for the "Coverage" indicator, where Kazakhstan took 14th place among 198 countries.

However, there are still a number of issues that need improvement in both areas, both data coverage and openness.
