Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

In March 2025, the monthly consumer price index was 1.3% (in February 2025 – 1.5%). Prices for food products by 1.6%, paid services increased – by 1.3%, non-food products – by 0.8%.

Among food products, prices increased for bananas by 14.5%, tomatoes – by 11.4%, beets – by 8.5%, cabbage – by 7.4%, beef – by 3.5%, lamb, potatoes – by 3.4%, oranges, granulated sugar – by 3.2%, grapes – by 3.1%, brine cheeses – by 3%. A decrease in prices was noted for cucumbers by 6.8%, eggs – by 1.8%, onions – by 1.3%, sweet peppers – by 1.1%.

In the sphere of housing and communal services, tariffs for cold water increased by 15.2%, sanitation – by 11.9%, central heating – by 3.1%, and hot water – by 2.4%. Railway transport services rose in price by 3.2%, dental services – by 2.3%.

The increase in prices in March this year was noted for tablets by 10.4%, laptops – by 8%, furniture and household items, and a gold wedding ring – by 2%. Liquefied natural gas in cylinders rose in price by 2.1%.

Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in Karaganda region, 2.4% (above the national average by 1.1 percentage points), the lowest in Mangystau region – 0.4%.

By region, food prices increased the most in the city of Astana city by 2.4%, non-food products in the Turkestan region – by 1.3%, and paid services in the city of Karaganda region – by 3.7%.




Inflation in March 2025 was 10% year-on-year. Prices for paid services increased by 14.3%, non-food products – by 9.1%, food products – by 7.6%.

Compared to March 2024, tariffs for cold water increased by 88.4%, sanitation – by 23.7%, central heating – by 19%, hot water – by 14.6%, electricity – by 14.3%, gas transported through distribution networks – by 13.3%, garbage collection – by 11.1%. Railway passenger transport services increased in price by 23.6%, cellular communications – by 19.5%, medical laboratories and X–ray rooms – by 18.8%, parcel delivery - by 17.7%, primary doctor's appointment services – by 16.1%.

Laptop prices increased by 80.6%, tablet – by 62%, kitchen stove – by 60.4%, wireless headphones – by 47.9%, USB flash drives – by 36.6%. An increase in prices was noted for corvalol by 37%, kanefron – by 23.4%. Prices for a gold wedding ring increased by 28.8%, new passenger cars – by 21.6%. Potatoes rose in price by 66.4%, onions – by 32.2%, cabbage – by 27.3%, beets – by 21.1%, garlic – by 17.8%, sunflower oil – by 16.8%, tomatoes – by 14.9%. On the contrary, buckwheat groats fell in price by 17.7%, eggs – by 8.3%, carrots – by 7.4%, sweet peppers – by 6.9%, rice – by 6.3%.

The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, is calculated monthly. Observations are carried out on tariffs and prices for services and goods, for a total of 508 items. Dynamic changes in inflation can be viewed on a specially designed interactive dashboard, which covers indicators starting from 2018.

*From January 2025 when constructing the consumer price index, the share of food products is 40.0%, non-food products – 30,3%, paid services – 29,7%.
