In January 2025, the monthly consumer price index was 1.1% (0.9% in December 2024). Food prices increased by 1.4%, paid services – by 1.1%, non–food products - by 0.6%.
Food prices for potatoes increased by 16.4%, cabbage – by 8.8%, garlic – by 6.4%, cucumbers – by 5.4%, grapes – by 4.1%, sweet peppers – by 3.9%, tomatoes – by 3.5%, butter – by 4.1%, sunflower oil – by 3.9%, salted herring – by 3.4%. A decrease in prices was noted for buckwheat groats by 1.5%, oranges – by 0.8%, rice – by 0.6%.
In the field of housing and communal services, the payment for intercom increased by 4.1%, housing maintenance – by 2.5%, central heating tariffs – by 2.2%, hot water – by 1.7%, electricity – by 1%. Parcel services rose in price by 17.7%, car insurance and notary services – by 6.5%.
An increase in prices in January this year was noted for household appliances by 3.9%, cars by – 2.4%, textiles, tableware by – 0.8%.
Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in Atyrau region by 2.2% (above the national average by 1.1 percentage points), the lowest in Almaty and Turkestan region – 0.7%.
By region, food prices increased the most in the Zhambyl region by 2.1%, non–food products by 1.5% in the Batys Kazakhstan region, and paid services by 5.5% in the Atyrau region.
Annual inflation in January 2025 was 8.9%. Prices for paid services increased by 13.8%, non–food products - by 8.4%, food products – by 5.8%.
Compared to January 2024, tariffs for cold water increased by 43.2%, water disposal – by 26.1%, central heating – by 23.1%, hot water – by 21.3%, electricity – by 18.9%, garbage collection – by 10.3%. Cellular communication services increased in price by 27%, railway passenger transport – by 18.6%, parcel delivery – by 17.7%, medical laboratory and diagnostic research services – by 17.4%.
Laptop prices increased by 66.2%, kitchen stove – by 55.9%, tablet – by 45.9%. The price increase was marked by corvalol by 30.7%, kanefron – by 27.9%, acyclovir – by 18%. Potatoes rose in price by 59.3%, onions – by 25.1%, olive oil – by 21.7%, garlic, sweet pepper – by 15.4%. On the contrary, buckwheat groats fell in price by 21.6%, lemons – by 6.9%, grapes – by 4.6%, carrots – by 5.3%.
The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, is calculated monthly. Observations are carried out on tariffs and prices for services and goods, for a total of 508 items. Dynamic changes in inflation can be viewed on a specially designed interactive dashboard, which covers indicators starting from 2018.
