Compared to October last year, tariffs for cold water increased by 60,3%, central heating – by 33,6%, water disposal – by 26,9%, electricity – by 22,9%, hot water – by 18,1%, garbage collection – by 16,3%, gas transported through distribution networks – by 11,6%.
The cost of renting housing increased by 9,9%. Prices for connection services increased by 17.4%, services of organization of comprehensive recreation – by 16.4%, hairdressers and personal service establishments – by 11.9%, funeral services – by 11.6%, health services – by 11.4%, recreation and sporting activities services – by 10.8%, maintenance and repair of personal vehicles services – by 10.7%, catering services – by 8.8%. Rail passenger transport increased by 23.7%, air passenger transport – by 16.4%, city bus – by 11.8%, taxi – by 10.6%.
The price level for audiovisual and photographic equipment increased by 42.1%, new domestically assembled cars – by 35.3%, pharmaceutical products – by 11%, clothes and shoes – by 10.6%, furniture and household items – by 9.8%, personal goods – by 7.3%, building materials – by 6.3%. Firewood in price by 14.8%, liquefied gas in cylinders – by 9%, coal rose – by 8.5%.
Increases in prices was noted for сucumbers by 27.6%, tomatoes – by 27%, tobacco products – by 15.8%, mineral and drinking water – by 14.1%, potato – by 13.9%, confectionery – by 12.6%, gold drinks – by 11.4%, fruit and vegetable juices – by 10.4%, eggs – by 9.4%. A decrease in prices was observed for buckwheat by 21.9%, white cabbage – by 20.8%, carrot – by 16.2%, sunflower oil – by 9.2%.
Regionally in October 2024 in annual terms, the inflation rate exceeding the republican average was observed in ten regions, of which the highest was in Astana city (10.2%), Mangystau regions (9.7%), Almaty city and Batys Kazakhstan regions (9.4% each).

The largest contribution to the annual inflation rate was made by housing services (2.1 percentage points), food and non-alcoholic drinks (1.9 percentage point), clothing and footwear (1 percentage point).
Over the year, prices for fruits and vegetables increased by 4.2%, meat and meat products – by 3.5% and made the main contribution to inflation by 0.4 percentage points, bakery products and cereals (by 4.7%) – by 0.3 percentage points. The rise in the price of soft drinks by 8.2% and dairy products by 5.3% contributed 0.2 percentage points to annual inflation.
Housing and communal services have risen in price by 16.3% over the year and their contribution to inflation amounted to 2.1 percentage points. In October 2024, compared to October last year, electricity was 22.9% higher and contributed 0.5 percentage points to annual inflation. Cold water rose in price by 60.3%, central heating – by 33.6%, rental housing – by 9.9% and contributed to annual inflation by 0.3 percentage points, residential maintenance and repair services (by 7%) – by 0.2 percentage points.

Inflation - an indicator that characterizes the change in time of the average price level for a fixed list of goods and services purchased by the population for personal consumption.
Contribution - the amount of influence of the percentage change in the indicator on the overall value of inflation.
The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, reflects the change over time in the general level of prices for goods and services purchased by the population for personal consumption.
The calculation of the consumer price index is based on information obtained from two sources:
The collection of information on price changes is carried out in a selective circle of cities and regional centers, in all regional centers, in cities of republican significance and the capital. The choice of basic trade and service enterprises is carried out locally. Objects of all types of trade and paid services are selected so that the survey includes enterprises with different trading conditions and regularly selling goods (services) of mass demand.
The set of goods and services for monitoring consumer prices and calculating the CPI is a single sample for all regions of Kazakhstan. The list of goods and services contains 508 items, which representatively includes the most representative types that occupy the largest share in the consumption of the population.
The collection of information on prices is carried out directly at the places of sale of goods (services) by price registrars. Prices are fixed for goods paid on the day of the survey, including taxes, but excluding additional fees for their delivery.
