Definition of the Indicator
Catch of fish and other aquatic animals is a statistical indicator that characterizes the total volume of harvested (caught) fish resources and other aquatic animals in fishery water bodies. It includes production obtained both from natural water bodies (seas, lakes, rivers, and reservoirs) and from the cultivation and harvesting of fish through aquaculture (fish farming).

The indicator is calculated by summing the volume of catch from natural water bodies and the volume of production obtained through aquaculture.
Source of the Indicator
National statistical survey Form 1-Fish “On Fisheries and Aquaculture”, submitted by fishery enterprises of the regions.
Notes
The Turkistan Region and the city of Shymkent (a city of republican significance) were established in 2018; the Abai, Jetisu, and Ulytau regions were established in 2022.
