Definition of the Indicator
The indicator characterizes the state of surface water quality in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on hydrochemical parameters determined through laboratory analysis of water samples. Water quality assessment is carried out by classifying water bodies into one of the quality classes (from Class 1 — "very good" to Class 6 — "highly polluted") in accordance with established standards.

Source of the Indicator
The responsible state body for data formation is the RSE "Kazhydromet" under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
