Definition of the Indicator
The base rate is the main instrument of the National Bank's monetary policy, which makes it possible to regulate nominal interbank interest rates in the money market. By setting the level of the base rate, the National Bank determines the target value of the targetable (target) interbank short-term money market rate to achieve the goal of price stability in the medium term. Decisions on the base rate are made by the Monetary Policy Committee of National Bank 8 times a year according to the approved decision-making schedule.
