Wages of employees by profession and position
In April 2023 the Bureau conducted an annual survey of the distribution of employees by salary level. The survey covered employees who worked the entire month of April 2023 . All large enterprises and a sample of 30% of medium and small enterprises participated in the survey, with subsequent distribution to the general population. The survey used data on actual accrued wages for the month of April 2023, taking into account all additional payments, allowances, bonuses, taxes and pension contributions. The distribution of workers according to the main occupations of workers and positions of employees was carried out according to the National Classification of Occupations2)
According to the results of the survey, the number of employees in the specified range of enterprises who worked completely in April 2023 amounted to 3437.3 thousand people, of which men made up 49.0% (1683.8 thousand people), women – 51.0% (1753.5 thousand people).
Of the total number of employees, 1.5% of workers received an average monthly salary of up to 70000 tenge, from 70000 to 150000 tenge – 22.8%, from 150000 to 300000 tenge – 36.2%, from 300000 to 600000 tenge – 30.8%, from 600000 tenge to 900000 tenge - 5.5%, from 900000 tenge to 1200000 tenge - 1.7%, from 1200000 tenge to 1500000 tenge - 0.6%, over 1500000 tenge - 0.9% of employees.
The median value of employee wages was 251356 tenge. The modal value of employee wages was 81377 tenge. The decile coefficient of differentiation of average monthly wages was 6.0.

For managers, the salary level increased by 13.9% compared to 2022. For workers in industry, construction, transport and other related occupations - by 23.2%, and for unskilled workers - by 26.4%.
The average monthly salary for workers with secondary education was 230841 tenge, with higher education – 398214 tenge and postgraduate education – 505170 tenge. By age, the average monthly salary of workers aged 16 to 24 years was 223165 tenge, from 25 to 28 years - 284278 tenge, from 29 to 34 years - 324276 tenge, from 35 to 44 years - 356082 tenge, from 45 to 54 years – 330626 tenge, from 55 to 64 years old – 305319 tenge, over 65 years old – 284378 tenge.

Median wage is the wage amount located in the center of the distribution of the number of employees by the amount of accrued wages and dividing it into two equal parts - with wages below and above the median;
Decile differentiation coefficient - shows how many times the minimum wage level of the 10 percent of the highest paid workers exceeds the maximum wage level of the 10 percent of the least paid workers.
