The Virtual Researcher’s Cabinet is available in the Bureau
The Bureau Expands Opportunities for Science and Research. Starting in 2025, Kazakhstani and international researchers can access statistical databases in de-identified form through the digital service «Virtual Researcher’s Cabinet» on the Bureau’s official website: http://stat.gov.kz.
The service enables remote work with data without the need to visit the Bureau in person, making access to de-identified statistical databases more convenient and faster.
All data are provided in anonymized form, fully eliminating the possibility of identifying individuals or legal entities and ensuring compliance with international standards of confidentiality and information security.
The launch of the Virtual Researcher’s Cabinet opens new opportunities for the development of the scientific environment in Kazakhstan and strengthens cooperation with the international research community.
«The Bureau has simplified access to statistical data for the scientific community. Previously, researchers had to visit the Bureau in person to work with databases; now access can be obtained online. This significantly saves time, removes territorial barriers, and makes working with official statistics more convenient and accessible. All provided data are processed in compliance with international confidentiality and security standards,» noted Maxat Turlubayev, Head of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition to online access, researchers may work with databases in specially equipped physical researcher cabinets at the following locations:
Astana – 22 Zheltoksan Street, Office 303
Almaty – 125 Abay Avenue, Office 201
Applications for access to the databases are submitted through the «Personal Account» / «User’s Account» on the Bureau’s website http://stat.gov.kz
and must be confirmed with an electronic digital signature, with the required documents attached. Upon approval, the applicant is granted access to de-identified data for research purposes.
