The Bureau of National Statistics and the Asian Development Bank discussed the signing of a Memorandum of cooperation
The Bureau of National Statistics and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing statistics within the framework of the Statistical Improvement Program for 2025-2027. This was announced during a meeting between the Head of the Bureau of National Statistics, Maxat Turlubayev, and the Director of the ADB Representative Office in Kazakhstan, Mr. Utsav Kumar.

The Memorandum outlines cooperation in five key areas: the use of advanced technologies, development and testing of methodologies, enhancing the knowledge and capacity of statistical bodies, the development of statistical applications and programs, and the dissemination of best statistical practices and expertise across the region.

«The signing of the Memorandum will be an important step towards modernizing and improving Kazakhstan's statistical system. Thanks to ADB's support, we will be able to integrate advanced international standards and technologies into our work, which will improve the quality of data and their relevance at the national and international levels» says M. Turlubayev, Head of the Bureau.

The Statistical Improvement Program for 2025-2027 aims to create a more open, transparent, and effective statistical system that will support informed decision-making in various sectors of the country’s public and economic life.

Previously, with ADB’s support, the Bureau has implemented a number of projects aimed at enhancing Kazakhstan’s statistical system, including the review of the «Unobserved Economy Measurement Methodology» technical assistance for building Digital Resource and Use Tables, training staff in visual and predictive analytics, among other initiatives.
