IPV in the Trade sector in January 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year amounted to 103.5% (January 2023 – 119.4%).
A significant share in the total volume of the industry falls on wholesale trade, the share of which is 69%, the share of retail trade is 30.7%.
Volume of retail trade in January 2024 amounted 1174.3 billion tenge or 3.7% more than in the corresponding period of 2023 year. Retail sales of goods by trading enterprises amounted 935.8 billion tenge or 7.6% more than in the corresponding period of 2023.
The share of food products in the total volume of retail trade is 26.8%, non–food products – 73.2%.
The largest increase in sales volume was recorded for non-food products, namely at enterprises selling motor fuel, cars, cosmetic products and toiletries, pharmaceutical products, clothes, jewelry, automobile parts and leather products.
As of February 1, 2024, the volume of inventories of trading enterprises (according to the reported enterprises) in retail trade amounted to 1594.3 billion tenge, in days of trade – 78 days (February 1, 2023, the volume of inventories of trading enterprises-1456.2 billion tenge, in days of trade – 76 days).
Most of specific gravity in the volume of retail trade of Republic in January 2024 accounts to Almaty city (31.5%), Astana (12.4%), Karagandy (8.3%) and Shygys-Kazakhstan (6.1%) districts.

The volume of wholesale trade in January 2024 amounted to 2644.1 billion tenge, or 103.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2023. Non-food products and industrial and technical products (80%) dominate in the structure of wholesale trade.
As of February 1, 2024, the volume of inventories of trading enterprises (according to the reported enterprises) in retail trade amounted to 1953.4 billion tenge, in days of trade – 44 days (February 1, 2023, the volume of inventories of trading enterprises-1687.6 billion tenge, in days of trade – 44 days).
The largest share in the total wholesale trade of the republic in January 2024 falls on Almaty city (38.6%), Atyrau region (19.7%), Astana city (16.8%), Karaganda region (5%).
