From December 9 to 13, the annual Statistics Week of the Asia-Pacific region took place in Bangkok, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

Kazakhstan was represented at the event by Olzhas Tuleuov, Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During his visit, Olzhas Tuleuov participated in a seminar for heads of national statistical offices. The main goal of the seminar was to exchange experiences among chief statisticians on building resilient statistical systems.

The speakers agreed that in an era of rapid change, technological progress, and growing demand for detailed data, national statistical offices must strengthen their institutional and technical capacity and go beyond traditional methods and practices.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan joined the Bureau of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics and Olzhas Tuleuov was elected as Vice-Chairman.

In the next two years, Kazakhstan will actively participate in the work of the Committee on Statistics, shaping a regional stance on international statistical standards, providing recommendations for training and technical support in the field of statistics, and promoting the use of new information technologies.
