Inflation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

In June 2024, the monthly consumer price index was 0.4% (as in the previous month). Prices for non-food products and paid services increased by 0.6%. The food price index was 100%.

An increase in prices in June this year was noted for a kitchen stove – by 8.4%, an air conditioner – by 4.6%, and a washing machine by – 4%. Furniture and household items rose in price – by 1.7%, clothing and shoes – by 0.9%, textiles, personal goods – by 0.5%.

Prices for services for the organization of comprehensive recreation increased by 13%, sanatoriums – by 5.6%, children's attractions – by 4.4%. Hairdressers and beauty salons rose in price – by 1.9%, catering – by 1%.

Among food products, a decrease in prices was observed for cucumbers by 18.7%, cabbage – by 18%, sweet pepper – by 17.9%, garlic – by 14.9%, tomatoes – by 13.3%, lemons – by 7.4%, bananas – by 1.6%. The price increase was noted for potatoes by 10.7%, grapes – by 3.6%, apples – by 2.1%, carrots – by 1.9%.

Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in the Akmola region of 1% (above the national average by 0.6 percentage points), the lowest in the Aktobe and Almaty regions of 0.1%. By region, food prices increased the most in Mangystau region by 0.8%, non–food products – in Turkestan region by 2%, paid services - in Akmola and West Kazakhstan regions by 2.5% and 2.6%, respectively.



Inflation in June 2024 on an annualized basis amounted to 8.4%. Prices for paid services increased by 13.8%, non–food products – by 7.4%, food products - by 5.4%.

Compared to June 2023, sewerage tariffs increased by 43.5%, cold water – by 36.7%, central heating – by 33%, electricity – by 31.7%, garbage removal – by 30.7%, hot water – by 30.4%. Prices for acetylsalicylic acid increased by 60.8%, activated carbon – by 33.1%, hilac forte – by 24.7%, paracetamol – by 23%. Grapes rose in price by 29%, beets – by 24.9%, olive oil – by 21.3%, tomatoes – by 19.8%. On the contrary, in annual terms, onions fell in price by 40.4%, buckwheat groats – by 23.1%, sunflower oil – by 22.3%, cabbage – by 22.1%, granulated sugar – by 5.6%.

The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, is calculated monthly. Observations are carried out on tariffs and prices for services and goods, for a total of 508 items. Dynamic changes in inflation can be viewed on a specially designed interactiveyes board , which covers indicators starting from 2018.

*From January 2024 when constructing the consumer price index, the share of food products is 42.0%, non-food products – 29.8%, paid services – 28.2%.
