Conference on Gender Statistics has been held in Georgia

On July 25-26, 2024, Tbilisi hosted a regional conference “Accelerating Progress towards Inclusive Development through Gender Statistics” dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Georgian statistical office.

The event was attended by gender managers and coordinators from national statistical offices in the Western Balkans, Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as researchers and policymakers from regional and international organizations.

Kazakhstan was represented at the conference by Deputy Head of the Bureau Assel Shauenova, who moderated a session on unlocking the potential of gender data communication, as well as Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Sustainable Development of the Bureau Ainur Dossanova, who shared lessons learned from two rounds of surveys on violence against women.

The conference discussed key issues, including gender data management for effective decision-making, earnings survey design: challenges and opportunities, the role of data in combating violence against women, gender equality index, improving gender data disaggregation, etc.

The main goal of the event was to expand knowledge and share best practices in improving data for the formation of evidence-based policies in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment.
