A delegation from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan is on a study visit to the Ministry of Data and Statistics of the Republic of Korea (MODS).

The visit is organized within the framework of the Statistics Improvement Program, implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank.

The main objective of the visit is to study the Republic of Korea’s advanced experience in the collection and dissemination of official statistics and data, as well as the use of modern technologies and digital solutions to improve information systems.

The knowledge and experience gained will be used to further modernize Kazakhstan’s national statistical system.

“We highly value the opportunity to continue bilateral cooperation with the Ministry of Data and Statistics of the Republic of Korea. We thank our Korean colleagues for the invitation and the Asian Development Bank for supporting this initiative. This is an opportunity for us to study leading international practices that will help accelerate the digital transformation of Kazakhstan’s national statistics,” said Gulmira Karaulova, Deputy Head of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

She emphasized that cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea in the field of statistics has a long history. As a result of close cooperation with Korean colleagues under a joint project with the World Bank implemented in 2012–2017, the Bureau successfully introduced modern approaches to online statistical data collection and the development of information systems.

The study visit to the Republic of Korea is part of systematic efforts to develop a modern, digital and efficient national statistical system in Kazakhstan based on international standards and leading international practices.
