Astana hosts a seminar on improving industrial statistics of Kazakhstan

In Astana started a three-day seminar «Harmonisation of industrial statistics of Kazakhstan with international standards» with participation of experts of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), specialists of the central office of the Bureau, representatives of territorial statistical offices and ‘Information and Computing Centre’.

The aim of the seminar is to improve and harmonise industrial statistics of Kazakhstan in accordance with international standards, which is especially important for improving the quality of statistical data and their further use in analysis and planning.

In his welcome speech, Maxat Turlubayev, Head of the Bureau of National Statistics of the ASPR of the Republic of Kazakhstan, expressed gratitude to UNIDO's Statistics Division for their cooperation and support in building the country’s statistical capacity.

«We are interested in the continuous professional development of our personnel. Participation in human development programmes is one of the priorities in our cooperation with international organisations. We are confident that this workshop will be an important step in improving the quality of statistics in Kazakhstan and will help in the integration of our statistics into the international community», said Maxat Turlubayev.

At the start of the seminar, the experts provided an overview of international recommendations for industrial statistics. UNIDO consultant Shyam Upadhyaya delivered a detailed presentation on the key indicators and objectives of industrial statistics, highlighting the importance of adhering to these standards to achieve excellence.

The seminar will also cover topics such as enterprise demography, the role of the digital economy in industry, experimental calculations, data collection and processing, and the implementation of automated processes to enhance the quality of industrial statistics.

This seminar has been organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization as part of the second phase of the regional project, «Improvement of Industrial Statistics and Development of Statistical Indicators for Industrial Analysis in Selected Eastern European and Central Asian Countries».
