In September 2023, 169.4 thousand units of motor vehicles were registered1), compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the indicator increased by 1.7 times, including buses – 1.8 times, trucks 1.8 times and passenger cars decreased by 1.6 times.

Thus, as of October 1, 2023, the number of registered vehicles in Kazakhstan amounted to 5161.8 thousand units, of which 88% were passenger cars, 9.9% were trucks and 2.1% were buses.

Also, as of October 1, 2023, there are 4542.7 thousand units of passenger cars owned by individual owners in the republic. In comparison with the corresponding period of 2022, the number of passenger cars owned by individual owners increased by 18.6%.

At the same time, out of the total number of registered passenger cars, the largest share - 87.5% - is made up of passenger cars with petrol–fueled engines, with mixed-fuel engines -8.3%, with diesel-fueled engines - 1.9%, with gas balloon-fueled engines - 0.1%, with electric–fueled engines - 0.1%. The largest number of passenger cars with petrol – fueled engines was registered in Almaty city – 496.8 thousand units, Almaty region - 478.6 thousand units, and Astana city - 314.2 thousand units.

For 9 months of 2023, 9869 road accidents were registered, in which 14016 people were injured In comparison with the corresponding period of 2022, the number of incidents decreased by 3.8%, the number of victims decreased by 7.1%2)

As of October 1, 2023, 80913 insurance payments in the amount of 44.9 million tenge were made by insurance organizations for compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners.3)
