In July 2024, 156.8 thousand units of motor vehicles were registered1),compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the indicator decreased by 7.4%, including passenger cars decreased by 8.4%, trucks increased by 6.8% and buses increased by 2.4%.
Thus, as of August 1, 2024, the number of registered vehicles in Kazakhstan amounted to 5545.2 thousand units, of which 88% were passenger cars, 9.9% were trucks and 2.1% were buses.
By year of manufacture, the total number of registered passenger cars is dominated by transport with a year of manufacture over 20 years – 44.2%, more than 10 years, but not more than 20 years – 23.5% of the fleet, more than 7 years, but not more than 10 years – 12.3%, more than 3 years, but not more than 7 years – 13.6% and only 6.2% of vehicles have a year of manufacture less than 3 years. The largest number of passenger cars with a production year of more than 20 years has been registered in the Almaty region – 324.9 thousand. units, in Almaty – 189.6 thousand units, in Zhambyl region – 169.4 thousand units, in Karaganda region – 162.7 thousand units and in Shygys Kazakhstan region – 153.8 thousand units.
At the same time, of the total number of registered passenger cars, the largest share (44.1%) is made up of passenger cars with an engine capacity from 1500 to 2000 cube cm, with engine capacity up to 1500 cube cm– 19.1%, with engine capacity from 2000 to 2500 cc - 17.4%, with engine capacity from 2500 to 4000 cc – 15%, over 4000 cc – 1.9%. At the same time, compared to the same period last year, the number of passenger cars traveling by electricity increased 2.3 times, from 4670 to 10674 units. The largest number of electric vehicles in Almaty is 6275 units, Astana – 1351 units, Almaty region – 522 units.
According to the type of fuel used, 81,9% of vehicles move on gasoline, the share of cars on mixed fuel is 7,5%, diesel fuel is 7,1%, the share of gas-filled cars in the total number of vehicles was 0,2% another 0,2% cars are driven by electricity.
