Brief description:
Waste is a significant loss of material and energy resources. The indicator of waste generation is closely related to the level of economic activity in the country and reflects the patterns of production and consumption formed in society. Annual amount of waste generated in the country-total, as well as hazardous waste by type of economic activity and generated as a result of household activities, per unit of GDP, per capita, etc.
Methodology:
The indicator is formed in accordance with the "Methodology for the formation of environmental statistics indicators" approved by Order No. 223 of the Acting Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 25, 2015.
The Ministry of ecology, geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the responsible state body for generating data on the formation of hazardous waste. Information is generated based on the results of the waste inventory report (frequency – annual) in the Information system State cadastre of production and consumption waste. Data on municipal waste generation are generated by the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The information is formed based on the results of national statistical observations in the forms 1-waste and 2-waste (frequency – annual).
Data on municipal waste generation are compiled by the statistics Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Information is generated based on the results of national statistical observations in the forms 1-waste and 2-waste (frequency – annual).
Unit:
It is measured in thousands of metric tons per year. The intensity of waste generation from various types of economic activity is expressed in thousands of tons per unit of GDP at comparable prices in 2011, and the intensity of household activity generation is expressed in thousands of tons per capita.
Goal:
The main purpose of this indicator is to provide a measurement of the pressure exerted on the environment by all the generated waste and its various categories (hazardous, industrial and solid household). The indicator of the intensity of waste generation is an indicator of the driving forces, as well as the response to anthropogenic activities. The rate of waste generation per unit of GDP (intensity of waste generation from various economic activities) describes the relationship dynamics of the waste and the ratio of the level of economic development of the country.
