One of the UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics is Principle 10 "International Cooperation", which states that "Bilateral and multilateral cooperation in statistics contributes to the improvement of the systems of official statistics in all countries".
The Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan (BNS) attaches importance to cooperation with other statistical offices and international organisations and actively participates in activities at the global and regional levels.
The priorities of the BNS in the field of international cooperation are to improve the capacity of the national statistical system and ensure its compliance with international standards and best practices, to exchange experience with other countries, to ensure international comparability of data and to promote the development of statistical concepts and methods.
The Department of International Cooperation and Sustainable Development is a structural unit of the BNS, dealing with international cooperation in the field of statistics.
