Statistics of education, science and innovation The share of students enrolled in public institutions of higher education was 49.9%, in private organizations – 49.5%, in foreign organizations – 0.6%.
Of the total number of enrolled students, 74.7% were accepted on the basis of general secondary education, 18.9% – on the basis of technical and vocational education and 6.4% – on the basis of higher education.
The total number of nonresident students was 364.5 thousand people. The number of students in need of a dormitory amounted to 115.6 thousand people, of whom 95.3 thousand students live in a dormitory.
At the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year, 38014 teachers were employed in higher education organizations of the republic, of which 14868 people have an academic master's degree, 10238 people have a PhD degree, 5462 people have a PhD degree.
At the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the number of operating higher education institutions amounted to 116 organizations.
Over the past 5 years, the number of organizations implementing higher education programs has decreased by 4.9%. Compared to the 2021-2022 academic year, the number of students increased by 17.6%.
The organization of higher and (or) postgraduate education is a higher educational institution that implements educational programs of higher and (or) postgraduate education and carries out research activities.
